It may have been less because i didn't really log in everyday during the beginning. I was trying to change my guest account name to my current name for at least a week(not sure it was me or the system was messed up).

So what you are talking about is called gambler's fallacy, which is correct. What I was trying to convey was the law of large numbers. In your case, it is possible for that kind of streak to happen, since you are looking at a short period of a countless times the roulette has been spun. Even though it is an independent event, if there is enough spins, your name should come up because of law of large numbers.

With the giveaway, you aren't dealing with a fair machine, so the actual probability is different. Let just assume it is fair and say the chances of one person is something around 1/1000 (probably lower since it doesn't really go over 1000). If it spun 100,000 times, the law of large number states that the probability of you getting pick should be close to 1/1000. When will one get that first win, is hard to say, but if you entered 10,000 spins, it would be a low probability that you haven't one at least once. That was the point I was trying to make.

they average about 800-1000 people per day logged in for the giveaway...so..if you log in 1000 weekdays...your chances are pretty good at winning once...there are 260 weekdays per year..it'll take less than 4 years to get a free board...unless your luck really sucks..and other people are winning multiple times while you get nothing...

Of course the down fall to putting the Vapor at the end is that any of the above winners will not be eligible for it. So I propose we rectify that situation by giving away 3 Vapors & 3 Methods.(wet dream here)

I doubt that will happen, who knows, but more work for sierra for a free giveaway doesn't seem a lot of motivation to change it. Also they want a lot of people to go to their site, hoping a percentage of them are going to buy something from them. If they did that, then less people would do it. Also, for the long term members, you get benefits from member points, so I don't think they would change the way they do things here.

yes, you do get points for logging in. once you rack up enough points, you get a coupon for one free item, depending on how many points you have.

Been here before they had the new randomizer. I was here when they used to just randomly circle their cursor over the list of names and where ever it stops is the winner. I log in about 50% of the time and havent won. Saw my name below a winner once tho.

247 log-ins for giveaways and I've only seen my name on the spinner ONCE! AND I didn't even win, it just flashed for a second when it was slowing down and then was gone... Pity party for me!

I've been on for 2 and 1/2 years. Logging on 2-3 times a week. Not one win. Even back in the day when there wasn't that many members. I've seen people win twice before. I logged on the other night and so did my gf. I saw her name right below the winners name. She loggs in once in a blue moon and almost wins. Thats not right. I sometime wonder if I'm even eligable. I'm done bitching now.

Throwing in my 2 cents.... the giveaways should be for those who participate in the shenanigans of SS. That should mean at least setting up your profile and changing your user name. Put up an avatar, answer a question... something. Shop_fill-in-# shouldn't be eligible. Changing the user name is easy. That's plain ol' human error if they can't change the name.

The 50% of lift ops... doable. This will get people to participate as they should!

No sob stories here. I won a gift card not too long after signing up. SS is giving away free boards without us having to purchase anything. That's effin' awesome! They don't have to do it.

What's even weirder is how previous winners just happen to almost always appears as new winner, and then the operator has to re-spin again since he knew the winner has already won before.

Not a bad idea, as long as the long time members go to the bottom of the list after they win. Actually, it should be based on # of daily longins, not time since registration as a member. The longer one has been a member and active on the site (posts, reviews) without winning gets a marginally higher chance of winning? Kind of like the NBA draft where the biggest losers get more ping pong balls in the lottery. LOL

I'm not suggesting this as a longtime non-winner since I won the Sierra Crew a month into joining this fabtastic site. I just feel bad for these poor saps who sit day after day watching "shop_xyz" and new members win.

i signed in for everday since mid march.. and one a sierra crew snowboard about two weeks ago. Only took about 2 weeks. During that time period, I still bought a crap load from SS though, because the prices are freaking amazing. I like the fact that they have a daily give away though, it really gives me something to look forward to at 3:00 pm while I'm at work.

Is it really possible to win more than once? If so, that is freakin crazy.

BTW im going to try out my sierra crew board this weekend, it is by far the shortest board i've ever ridden so hopefully it'll be a lot of fun!

I've been here for a long time, going back to the days when Sierra only hosted giveaways one in a blue moon. So I don't know, I don't care if I don't win, and I have been here long enough to really not care about the giveaways. I look at it as this way, I can easily buy whatever is given because sierra sells it at a price where they are literally giving it away for free.

As for the shop people winning, again I don't care much about that either because in one form or another they "shop" on sierra. Their contributions is what makes sierra give things away in the first place, not people with X amount of posts, not someone that was here for 2 or 3 years. It's the people that put their hard earned money buying stuff. And if they get something for free, then I look at it as a thank you from Sierra.

I joined in March last year, and I always log in around 2:45PM.
All I won was a $5 beanie back in October, which was actually quite extraordinary because I don't know when the last time I won any sweepstakes.

I was hoping I could get a free board as my first board.
Finally, I gave up and bought myself a setup.

Perhaps I am saving my luck for bigger sweepstakes, like $100,000 car or a house :p
