But Burton's so overpriced!  I once knew a guy who had a Forum board, so it's better and stuff.

I really don't understand why the Quicksilver Inc line isn't Red... I know that $3B is a lot of money, but Quicksilver is huge!  Such a large part of the international market.  Is part of it owned in private stock options??

im not really for sure if forum is "made" by burton, but F is a subsidiary company of burton, ie. is owned by....

but either way... burton is NOT expensive comparatively... they are fairly on par with most everyone else

C'mon spenser, you know this won't be the last time you say that.  And you know people will never stop saying Burton is "wayyy too expensive", it's a generalization less-informed (and not willing to research) people commonly make.  You're assuming these people will actually do some work and compare board technology and price across brands when a lot of the herd just wants to be told what to believe.

hands down one of the most ignorant things people KEEP thinking is true.

compare a burton board to a forum board with relatively the same amount of technology.  price is gonna be super duper almost the same.  compare with pretty much any company for that matter.

YOU PAY FOR TECH, NOT PERFORMANCE.  for the last time.

burton owns forum.  forum is made on their own and they have their own people doing it, but they do sometimes trickle tech from one company to another.. that's why forum has had ICS, and burton boots next year are getting what forum called "tweaker" (i think?), for example.

they have the same address because all the billing/warranty/account/etc stuff goes through the same place in vermont, but that's it.

funny thing is, a lot of the stuff burton comes out with is a year or two or more late compared to when other companies release eerily similar technologies.

maybe its not the same as back in the day when they had a team of legends, but the product is still quality.

the thing that is different about mervin (lib/gnu) is that they dont have many cheaper ones.  they dont really make cheap boards.  not because they cant, but because thats just not their market.  they make quality hand-built snowboards in washington and thats how its been for 25 or so years.

no, because gnu and lib tech are made in the same place by the same people.  they are essentially the same brand under two names, and came from the same place.

burton and forum started separately.  not too long ago, burton bought forum.  forum sales go to burton and forum employees are ultimately paid by burton.  however, burton boards are made in their factories and forum boards are made in different factories.  they are not the same.

Don't you READ....... if you would have taken the time to read even a few post above you, you could have avoided typing this and looking like an idiot. 

 

So what exactly do you find wrong with the quote function? The fact that it quotes the picture seems like its working properly.  If you dont want to quote the picture then delete it.  It is kinda annoying that the repeated picture keeps showing up on the main page though.

you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, and its all about preference, but the reason it makes no sense is because they both make at least a couple great boards for each type of riding.

so if given two boards.. a forum seeker and burton hate.. you would rather use the seeker for park and hate for everything else?  going by what you just said, thats what you would do.  just sayin :)

furthermore, forum has no mountain riders like john jackson or jake blauvelt (okay, so hes off the team now), and burton has no park/rail riders like keegan or JJ.

and no, thats not how it works.  when you buy a forum board, the money ultimately goes to burton.  burton owns it all.  they dont make forums lower quality just because they want the brand of burton to have "better" products.. that wouldnt help them financially, since they still ultimately get the money from forum boards.

and again, forum still does its own thing.  they design the boards, have their own technologies, so on and so forth.

 

It doesn't mean Burton is good, just because forum is under burtons umbrella.

 

So Burton will not let Forum's product better than itshelf.

 

I have both Forum and Burton boots, Burton really have better quality, but Forum with better price...

Word.  My buddy went through 3 Manuals with this issue.  2 were '08's, 1 was an '09.  Really almost no park riding at all, just happened with normal riding.  He ended up finally switching to a different board (the '09 Eddie Wall) but hasn't gotten to ride it yet.  Hopefully it'll work out a little better for him so he can actually ride with us.
