I heard that it was steep as sh!t but had some of the best snow. I passed it up last year cuz I was laidoff from my job at that time. Sure have! I'm a BC boy though. There are many hidden treasures in BC. Revvy is good, Silver Star is great for park and intermediate riding. Big White is pretty descent, but gets fogged in quite a bit. I grew up at Red Mtn. on of my favs if you like cliff drops and back country into powder bowls. For those of you that have been to Revelstoke, where would you recommend staying and what was the pricing like? Were there any hostels / motels/ hotels that you can recommend?

They are a couple of the most difficult resorts in North America from what I've heard. My buddy went to Kicking Horse as an intermediate snowboarder and it kicked his ass, a ton of expert terrain. I believe Revvie only has 1 green run...although it is like 10 miles long.

We almost went there this year instead of Sun Peaks but I figured it wouldn't be great for the wifey, simply too advanced for her.

Hahah... damn... I guess Revvie is trying to weed me out due to my lack of skill.

OR it's inviting me in to so that I can get better. There should be some sort of common rating system for beginner, intermediate and expert because sometimes they vary by quite a bit between resorts. But I can see the dificulty since no two runs are completely alike.

A couple of weeks before i got there Travis Rice and others were there filming got the new "art of flight" movie and an article i read a couple of weeks ago, apparently even Travis was amazed at the place.

I got there for a weekend at the start of April this year and it was the most ridiculous place ever.

I have never been to a place on the weekend with so few people and where you can get powder runs all day. I also love the 4 - 8 foot drops that are everywhere, with no consequences when you stack it.

The only problem with the place is that the roads leading to it close all the time because of avalanches, making it hard to get to some times.

There's no way I could afford to do that, I would have to empty my savings account just to get there, not only that I don't even have the skills to enjoy all that terrain lol, I'm one of those weeded out =p

i am planning on going to revvie next season for heli boarding. probably do 1 day heli and 4 days in the resort.

selkirk is around $800 for 3-4 runs... it is not cheap to do heli boarding.

Then add 4 days in the resort area, accommodations, plane ticket, food... and I'll be around $2500

I did hear of this and it's exciting to see what they have planned for the future. It's going to be absolutely ridiculous.

Their vertical is already unbelievable at 5700' (bigger than Whistler's), but the reason we opted out of Revvie this year is because it's not friendly to anything under intermediate/expert. They have essentially one green run (granted it's 15.2 km long!) but I heard that's mostly cat track. The rest of the place is reputed to be very steep and difficult terrain. Unfortunately we had to bail on our plans and go somewhere else until some of our members skills are up to par.

So I'm hoping they add some more diversity to the hill, I would love to get out there sometime as the snow is supposedly very good.

Have you guys heard? Revelstoke Mountain Resort is expected to be 10,000 acres when they're done. That'll make it the biggest resort in North America! That's insane.

Anyone ever gone to experience the madness there? They got some heli-skiing there as well. Over ten metres of snow a year!
