which samsung are you talking about? It might be a defective unit, I have a galaxy nexus, and gps is awesome. If u get a 4s with ios6, well we all know how brilliant their new map is.

Really?! That's kind of strange in terms of battery life. I thought that the new iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy SIII should have better batter life. So it seems like the old iPhone 4 has a longer battery life.

I went from the 4 to the new 5. I was shocked at the battery loss compared to the 4. I switched to the S3 on day 14. The S3 was just as bad for battery life.

I just bought a 4 again and am so happy to be done with that debacle. The battery must be at least 3X to 4X better on the 4 compared to the 4s, 5, and S3.

Basically the only option to the 5 is the Galaxy SIII and everyone I know so far that has gone galaxy before has regretted it eventually mainly due to battery life

I received my iPhone 5 last week, seems good. Not too different from the 4s. PIA to get chargers and cases still... kind of annoying.

I read it there are plenty of issues with the phone design... first, the aluminum scratches easily, there's problem with the WIFI as well as BlueTooth (compatibility issues with the iOS6), camera lens issue (pictures come out a little bit purple-ish because of the glass material). It appears to me that Apple cannot get their acts together after Jobs was gone.

I love how people seem to think that Steve Jobs singlehandedly built all of Apple's products. Oddly enough, he didn't. He wasn't a mad scientist working out of his basement. He was the CEO of a giant company and that company has had great ideas. And even though the ideas have been great, they all had some glitches. People are just expecting perfection now, whereas when the first iPhone came out, they were just in shock. Yeah, I agree. Even though they have made some minor updates to the iPhone 5, there still behind compared to other smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy 3. Steve Jobs was an awesome person. Without him, Apple hasn't been able to innovate their products. :(

I have two sisters, and one of them upgraded to the iPhone 5 while the other one went for the Galaxy S3. (I'm an Android fan, Galaxy S2 ) After playing around with both phones, I still choose Android over iPhone. I guess it's because I'm used to the Android interface, and I don't see anything exceptional from the iPhone 5.

^^^ personally if you are doing a hard reset on your phone in the first month thats bullsh*t. there is no reason that should happen......They are far to dumb to jail break a phone they are just those ppl that have a boner over having the new stuff. I've heard great things about the iphone 5 coming from those who switched from another (non-iphone) phone. But those who made the switch from the 4s to the 5 were pretty disappointed. Makes sense to me!

I dont even like the panarama. You have to slide/pan the camera along a line. Id rather have the app that stitches multiple pictures for you.

My roommate has the iphone 5 and i think its too early to get it. With the new charger on it and it not being able to work with the ihomes and ipod docks is just obnoxious. Apple just wants us to have to buy more adapters to spend more money on there products. I think eventually i will get one but not until they work out all the bugs and start to make new ihomes and ipod docks to support the new charger plug

Negative posts falls on deaf ears/blind eyes. I remember last year when the 4s came out. ALl the fanboys were like 3.5 inch screen is the perfect size, now 3.5 inch is not the perfect size but 4 inch is. They used to say that samsung phones are too light and that the 4s has a good weight/heft to it. Now that the 5 is lighter, lighter is better. Next thing you know they will be saying how it's fun to get lost because it's an adventure. smh..

Still getting use to the typing on the iphone, I prefer the swype feature on Samsung much better...
Few cons i have found so far
New panorama sucks, My S1 did better.
Flash feature on camera, camera sensor is too slow to get the right exposed image so comes out black at times.
Battery life on LTE 4G network sucks. Didn't last 5 hours, on and off the phone for work purposes.

Apart from that Its got a good feel to it. Slim and light, but not too much that it feels cheap. Yer to have any lag issues and apps run fine. (using photo editing apps and such).

Also Camera takes good quality photos (main reason i bought it, but yet to compare to the S3 and other droid phones)

There is nothing exciting about the release of this iphone unfortunatly. Like always the hardware is beautiful. It looks and feels nice, but no new groundbreaking features. It seems like this iphone is mostly just playing catchup with Android.

Apparently a brawl broke out at one of Foxconn's dorms that houses 79,000 workers causing them to shut down this factory for 2 days. So if the figures here are correct then that means Apple will be behind in making 1.131m phones per 87 workers so that's 11,804,598 phones over the course of 2 days, which won't help the workers because Apple is already behind in their backlog so they should probably expect to work even more OT without pay to make up for it.

Man I got to hold it in my hand today and it is definitely an improvement in terms of size, weight, and aesthetics. Its lighter and thinner.

Before seeing it today I thought the matte back together with the shiny wasn't a good decision but I was wrong. It looks real nice

None of these process data at the speed of the iphone. Or javascript. Or render graphics. Or can match the quality of display. i think it also has to do with the apps since developers (a few inside sources in the gaming industry) hate developing for android since it's so easily hack'able that the OS just isn't profitable.

DESPITE this i think, assuming google still backs android, android will always have a place in the market due to its open source i and what it gives to people in the anti-apple camp...

on that note, i have never heard of a windowsOS fanboy...speaking of whcih, windows8 might get slapped with a few antitrust laws because of some noncompetitive practices (their app store makes it difficult for other applications, like steampowered, to be installed onto the computer)

Just want to throw this out there. Most people in line were buying to sell in other countries. A few die hards, apple has always had its fans. I don't understand the hate at all. I'm an apple die hard and would not make fun of people waiting in line for a flagship droid. People are passionate about what they like.

And yes, I have tried most mobile os systems. Droid, windows phone, you name it. I prefer iOS, full android (which you need a nexus device to get) comes in third, with windows phone being my number two.

I played with my friend's iPhone 5 last night. I will say it is nice, it's fast, thinner, lighter, and the build with the metal back is more favorable. But overall compared to my iPhone 4, the only huge attributes I loved was the LTE speed and the larger screen. Conclusion: I'm not going to rush to get one but it is a nice piece of hardware.

Yea, I found it funny that people were saying the S3 feels way to light, and now the iphone is lighter. Crazy stuff!

On another note, I love my S3, and the iphone 5 seems like a great option as well. I have no motivation to switch, but I can see how people at this point would go for the iphone 5 rather than the s3, although the difference is minimal.

Yes, that's a 1 ghz dual core processor outperforming a 1.5 ghz quad-core processor. This is nothing new. We see this all the time. It's why a 300hp bmw can best a 400 hp audi around a track. Or a 5 mp canon can produce a better picture than a 7 mp kodak. It all comes down to superior engineering, and the sum of all parts. Yeah I think its funny how people have that need to get the latest and greatest. I would just wait to get an upgrade in a year and a half if I had the 4S. Its an awesome phone as it is haha.

Im happy with my 2 year old original HTC EVO 4G haha. It also is a great phone and I love it.

This happens with snowboarding too. I ride in small resort in Ohio and I pretty much see the same people every time. A lot of them are always riding the latest boards every year.

But I guess if money wasn't an issue I would be upgrading my stuff more often.

I like the iPhone and everything, but it really is weird that people are willing to grossly overpay just to have it first. It's a phone, and it's not like it's life-changing. The current iPhone isn't a slouch. I can't imagine the iPhone 5 is going to have upgrades that just blow everything else out of the water. Waiting a month seems like a no-brainer.

There are always people out there who MUST have the latest and greatest gadgets and these people are willing to pay a premium for them. But I'm not one of them

I really want one but the positives of getting one over keeping my 4S are not enough to justify spending full price for one since i just got my upgrade. I think the lightning cable thing is ridicoulous, especially considering Apple was on a commitee just last year that was pushing for making Micro usb the industry standard!

Apple isn't competing with other companies, they're staying in the lead. Quite button doesn't seem to work on my iPod touch 4

skio -- for everything app-wise on the iJunk, there are plenty of android-based similar apps. I just checked & there is an app called Voxer, which lets you send instant audio/text/photo/location messages to one person or a group. FREE. Interfaces with android and iJunk users, and connects with FB apparently.

Oh, and as far as my GIII battery life....I've used the phone heavily all day (email / text / FB / Words with Friends / camera / 2 active live widgets / app store downloading) and I've used about 50% battery in about 8 hours. Not too shabby.

All my ipods died as well although I'm sure it's the battery but oh wait, you can't change the battery out because that's just how Apple is, they want you to buy a whole new one. Although you can find 3rd party businesses that would change your battery out for you but that's not cheap either.

I heard the Galaxy S4 is coming out in February already although I'm not sure what it would add. Although I wished my phone could double as a taser.

One of my users dropped his blackberry this morning. He wants to upgrade but does NOT want the iPhone 5. So, after brief discussion... he's getting my 4s, and I'm taking his 5.

I have the 4s and love it. I don't think that there were any major upgrades to the 5 that would warrant paying the extra money anyways.

I'm with whitejawz. I'm just sticking with my pager. People send me a page, and then I find the nearest payphone and call them back. Payphones are everywhere. It's much more convenient, and I look cooler.

yeah but unfortunately the 4s only comes in 16g now and 4 in 8G...that wont cut it for my purposes considering my in rotation music library is bigger than that. I will wait for the next release and hopefully they will make the baseline for the 5 32 gigs instead of selling phones with minimal storage.

If you don't want to jailbreak your iphone then why even bother with an iphone? Everyone that I know buys an iphone to jailbreak so they can get free apps and what not if you don't end up bricking your iphone that is. Whereas you can get free apps on droid without installing anything.

I really am personally torn between the Galaxy S III and the iPhone5. I think apple does a great job breeding zombies for their products, and they have put forward a lot of quality and innovative pieces of equipment but this ones is less than impressive given the hype. That being said, makers of android based devices need to band together better and produce phones that work much more similarly. Even the OS display is done differently on phones that run the same OS, hate it. Apple has it set that they work seamlessly between their devices and sharing stuff is easy between a macbook, ipod, and ipad.

The only reason why Google jumped in was because Apple sued Samsung and there's noway Google will let Apple win this game. I agree, Google will win if they follow through. The things these companies put a "patent" on are sometimes pretty silly. Rounded corners? C'mon, toy companies have been doing that for years, that's not ground-breaking quality at all.

Just wait, the iPad mini will probably be made some day, and we will be trying to figure out if it's a larger iPhone or a small iPad.... but heck, everyone will buy it!

Why does it matter if you have the same phone as everyone else? And it's not like you will be a trailblazer if you get a Samsung Galaxy III. I'm happy with my iPhone 4, and I'm probably gonna upgrade to an iPhone 5. I'm not very informed on the other options, but the few times that I have used people's android phones, I felt like the controls weren't particularly intuitive. I have never even seen the Galaxy III though. It's probably just as user-friendly as the iPhone.

I actually think the phone company buys the phone for 650 and makes their money on the contract. so they initially take a loss on the 200 dollar sale. I read an article about it yesterday

I'd love an iPhone, or any smart phone for that matter but for $650 without an upgrade it's robbery. Add the price of any app's I'd want and data overages and it'd be upwards of $700. That's one month's rent, a car payment, a loan payment, or a whole new snowboard setup including most softgoods. I think what they charge is absurd, and you know they're making at minimum $450 profit on it if it's "only" $200 with an upgrade.

Samsung are suing Apple back for the LTE 4g, they claim they apple stole it off them. Hope they win back the 1.6 billions or whatever Apple got from the 'slider' law suit.

I've been reading some of the reviews for the new iPhone 5 and the new iPhone isn't the best. There are a lot of better, faster, and cheaper phones out there but Apple has become a sort of icon and everybody likes Apple products.

I like my Android. Couldn't switch to the new iPhone even if I wanted to, since I'm not giving up my $25/month Virgin plan til I have to. Apple charges way too much for all its adapters and accessories anyway. I never ended up buying the cable to plug my iPod Touch into TV's which would have been nice when in hotels. $49 was outrageous.

The lack of changes aesthetically was also a disappointment and the change of the charger port is as well.

You could go anywhere at anytime and bet someone would have a spare iphone charger if you needed it.

From what I read in the WSJ earlier this week, the carriers are getting rid of "early upgrades." The early upgrades are costing the carriers too much because they drop a ton of money on iPhones. It messes up their year end financials.

That 7.1mm is calculated at it's thinnest part as far as I know. They should release the specs on the thickest part, that makes more sense to me in claiming "thinnest" phone. But I did a quick google search and found some phone only available in China that is 6.65mm at it's thinnest point, and more importantly 7.1 at its thickest. That phone has a real claim to the thinnest phone.

They aren't going to change the design for the sake of changing it unless it improves something. They changed the connector so they can reduce the thickness of the phone.

They did change the port to a smaller 9 pin version. Add to that the fact that apple is not authorizing any aftermarket company to make an adapter. So, your only option to use older cords is to buy the adapter straight from Apple.

My contract is about up so I will be upgrading. Saying that I don't think the upgrades are that great but my 4 is starting to break down (home button).

Basically the only other option in AUS is the Samsung Galaxy and every person I know who has one complains non-stop about the sucky battery life

not getting it, beside screen size and a faster processor, there's not a big enough gap between the 4s, or even the 4, to warrant getting this but this is ASSUMING it performs just as well as the galaxy S3 and lumia (finally, something REALLY innovative...TOUCH SCREEN WITH GLOVES!? SOLD!). i think this phone is also light as crap...i guess it makes it KIND OF nice but you lose that "premium feel" business.

HOWEVER, IF you're still on the 3g(s) or lower...or whatever...this is a worthy upgrade if you wanted to keep using your apps or make this your dedicated music player, phone, all-in-one.

In my opinion I think that people in general are a little,no, a lot too obsessed with the release of the new iPhone, especially kids. It's really annoying hearing everyone in my school talk about how their parents are gonna buy it for them the day it comes out. More than half of them have a perfectly good iPhone 4S. I don't want to rant here but it sort of sickens me seeing all these kids just get all this new shit that they don't need.
