go to sports authority or mountain store.
They got some great ski/ climbing pants that are at least 10,000 breathability, and waterproofing rating for 30-100 dollars.
i have my black ski pants that I use.. nothing much. it looks like a tight... shiot.. but it was the only size there were.
My ass never got wet when i was learning in those.
if you're willing to sacrifice the look like me, then you should definitely check those out.

I just checked ebay and there were quite a few pairs of size L snowboarding pants for $30 or less from well known companies.
