the big park at snowmass is awesome.  The other parks are mediocre.  Buttermilk lives up to it's XGames heritage and is one of the best in the world.

They aren't for the timid though, these parks are pretty big.

well if you look at the condition of the resorts, it's pretty easy to understand why people are talking about closing.  It's almost heading back to the WROD conditions of early fall.  All I can hope is that we don't have too many fires and that April brings enough snow to fill our reservoirs this Summer!

worst conditions I have ever had in March.  Slush made all of the jump lines sketchy.  I'm not riding again until there is some snow.  Time to start thinking wakeboarding.

Yep! Conditions were really crappy. When it got about 6-7pm it started to get icey in the shade.

Does anyone know if they will close A51 terrain park due to slushy conditions? or will they have it open up until the day they close?

Despite the lack of snow, Keystone has no intentions of closing the park early. In fact, they have recently announced they will be keeping the park open until 5pm on Fridays.

I hope the basin can make it that long. They did not get much snow this year and all the warm weather may not allow for them to be open much longer. I am up to Keystone tomorrow to ride the slush

Geez I just hope A basin opens until mid May..before I head back to CA to hit the waves.

But! it's good news that keystone is willing to keep their park open...guess my season isnt over yet! The moment they close the park....I would call it a season.

Slushy spring park laps are the best time of year for a majority of park riders and the times when parks are the busiest. Not a chance any Summit County resort would close their park early.

Nice! Thanks for info, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Guess after keystone closes...I'll be off to Breck's park....and when that closes..it's time for A-basin.

Has anyone been to Breck lately?  How are the conditions?  The extended forecast doesn't look promising which sucks since it will be my first time riding in CO.

Based on the snow reports I wish I could.  We are using my in-laws' timeshare at Breck and lift tickets, airfare, rental vehicle, etc. have been reserved/purchased.  Plus, we have tickets for the Rockies/Giants game on Wednesday, my 8 year old is a baseball fanatic and is thrilled we are going to a MLB game in CO.

Yep, the Rockies season starts on the road 4/6 - 4/8 and then back to Coors Field for a 9 game home stand.  We are going to the 4/11 game vs. SF Giants.  Should be a good time.

Anyone have a restaurant recommendation for a pre-game meal?  Something within walking distance of the stadium?

Lodo's is decent bar/pub food. They're across the street from the stadium, so they'll probably be packed around game time.

Lodo's, Wynkoop Brewery, Breck Brewery, Chop House ($$$ but good) have decent food, plus many others are all within walking distance of the Stadium.

Of these...I recommend Wynkoop OR Breckenridge Brewey.

Lodo's, Tavern, Sports Column are nice and all but usually crowded to the wall.

I would just wait and get a Rockie dog fully loaded.

I'm hitting that friday night game v Diamond backs

Thanks for the recommendations.

Whatever restaurant we go to I plan on getting there early (8 and 6 year old kiddies) so we're not rushed to eat and get to the stadium as well as attempting to avoid the crowds.

Based on your recommendation, rzero, I'll make sure I do not eat too much so I can grab a fully loaded Rocky dog at the game.

"...there's nothing quite like a downtown evening outdoors with a fully loaded Rocky Dog (grilled onions and peppers and sauerkraut) and a cold beer...", sounds like something I will enjoy.

I'm getting concerned, the Breck web site shows fewer runs open each day.

TERRAIN REPORT
Terrain Open:77%
Acres Open:1804 of 2358
Lifts Open:29 of 31
Runs Open:109 of 155

I'm planning on riding Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday...  I hope the snow holds up for another week.

Keystone officially closed today. Breck is still open daily for the next week, even with less and less terrain each day. However, after that they will only be open weekends and only thorough April.

Funny you should ask, I am at Breck all week.  Crusty in the morning and slushy in the afternoon.  I feel we are not getting the true Colorado experience based on the conditions, I told my wife we have to come back when this place actually has some fresh powder.

Regardless, we are having a great time.

Yeah, well, I was hoping for a small miracle.  Regardless, we are having a f'ing great time.  The mountain crust and slush beat anything I have ridden this season in MI.  The apres boarding is awesome, even with my kids.  The town is a lot of fun, breakfast at the Columbine Cafe is a great way to start the day.

No complaints here, if anything the crust and slush make me want to come back when there's pow more than ever.  The mountain itself is incredible.  Today I rode on Peaks 7, 8, 9, and 10 and had a few IPAs at Maggies.  Also picked up a wheeled board bag from Christy's for $25.  We are going to the Rockies game tomorrow, my brother-in-law flies in tomorrow night so he's riding back to the resort with us after the game.  Thursday and Friday are riding days and then back to reality on Saturday when we fly home (reality means I am doing some work Sunday morning starting at 6am... dammit).

My wife and I need to find frickin' jobs in CO.

The vibe I'm experiencing is more of a laid-back-everything's-cool vibe.  The people I have talked to have been very friendly and laid back.

I'm a DBA (database administrator - Oracle, SQL Server, Progress), my wife is an HR Director.  There are plenty of DBA jobs in and around Denver, I just did an online search.  Now, it may be the beer and wine talking but I am ready to move to CO today.

I'm sure nobody is gonna miss you not being there with your stereotype attitude.

Stereotype attitude? I was stating the vibe we felt when I went with my wife. How is that stereotyping?

The "bro-brah" comment. As though you think everyone that lives there is just some dumb kid there to party.
I'm just here to look cool...

Why is it that when I click through your link I'm at a TruSnow site where I'm logged out, and it is slightly different than this page? If I go to the page manually through the sections it still has me logged in. Maybe the link is funky?

BTW, are you still in Summit?

Not sure about the link, I just copied it from my browser.

We aren't in Summit anymore. My wife was offered an elementary teaching job last year in Vegas so she took it. Thing that sucks is the school district laid off over 400 teachers at the end of the year because they are broke and she was one of them (lay offs based on seniority and not performance are bullshit.) So if the district and the union don't stop fighting and don't bring her back before the school year then there is a chance we might be back in Summit. We really loved it there so we wouldn't have any problem going back. We are basically in wait and see mode and are leaving all options on the table.

Wow, that is too bad she was laid off. My wife is still trying to get into the public school system here. She's at a preschool now waiting for her CO education license to be processed. If she'd been on top of things a year ago when we moved to CO she wouldn't be competing with a couple thousand new college grads all applying for their licenses too.

I'm absolutely loving this change in temperature. I hope it maintains and leads to an epic winter. If the weather cooperates, loveland is planning on starting snow making in 41 days!!

+1, it's about time things "cooled" off! I've been wanting to ride my MTB but no way in hell I was going to in 98+ degree weather.
