Everything's about to close for the season this weekend in the NJ/NYC area, so I thought I'd get a day in at JFBB vs. Creek (even though I have a pass there)... so if anyone's around and interested, I'll be there all day Saturday... Jack Frost in the morning, and Boulder Park in the afternoon. I'm still hoping to finish the season in Killington or Stratton --- April 13 is the magic day!

Well... I had never been to Jack Frost/Big Boulder prior to this weekend, and I don't think I'll ever go back unless the wifey wants to. I wasn't expecting anything since I knew this was the last day of the season, but just in sheer terms of trails, etc., the place really sucks. Since my work and school didn't allow me the luxury of getting up to my friends' places in VT this season, I was hoping that I would've found another viable alternative to hitting up Creek and Blue as my regular haunts. Every trail is just so friggin' short, and all but 1 of their blacks barely rival some of the greens at Creek The one nice thing that came out of it was that I basically had the whole mountain to myself --- there were a little more than a dozen shredders that I ran into regularly; we all just spent the entire day dickin' around all the features and working on jumps, etc. It was great because you never had to worry about running into anyone, so everybody had ample space to try stuff out. Landings never hurt since the snow was so soft and grainy, but that's to be expected. I was riding around in a t-shirt and glove liners by the end of the day. The rest of the resort was filled with people that were still trying to learn how to ride/ski, so the blues and blacks were nearly empty.
I'm so depressed that I won't be back on snow until December. I was hoping to make one last trip to Killington, Okemo, or Stratton... but no dice --- too many group projects at school.

... They definitely can't even be mentioned in the same breath as the bunny slopes at the VT resorts. Big Boulder has some nice park features; I still like South at Creek better.
