that would be the pacific ocean, haha. i used to live right up a short hill through the woods from an epic lake (which is half a mile from the ocean) but now i moved about 20 miles away.. i can run to the ocean in under a minute right now if i wanted.. or i could jump in the mini pond behind my house. anyway, here are a few from this evening. the weather has been amazing here these last few days... a sight like these are just part of the norm here in southeast AK :)    |

Hate to break it to ya but a DSLR won't just "make" you take better pictures. Lighting, composition, depth of field, colour balance...everything adds up and the camera doesn't think about what you're point it at.

if you were including my photos in that, mine are all taken on a basic/cheap point and shoot camera. i dont have a DSLR.

This thread inspired me to find my dad's Nikon DX and make me some photos. Let me know what you think, I'm just practicing with manual focus and stuff
Was trying to focus on the inside of the flower on that last one, I think I'm just too close for the lense im using/the camera can't make photos that high quality |

thanks doodz, its definitely a beautiful place. and that lake is the main place where i wakeboard in the summer, if not in the ocean.
the house i used to live in is a quick walk up the hill through the woods right about where the trees dip down the lowest about 3/4 toward the right in the photo

Jinsing - see if you dad has a macro lens hanging around. That should help you do what you want. |

a couple shots from my recent walk in Golden Gate Park shot on a Nikon D60. i don't know too much about exposure and all that I usually use auto, but on this day I saw this thread the and saw how people say different exposure times so I experimented a little.
