	No, you want to start with the file perpendicular to the handle, then swing to about 45 degrees, with more of the file hanging out the bottom then the top. Then crank it shut. The side profile should look like a 7 with some of the file protruding above the top of the handle. I know, the lack of directions is frustrating. Hope this helps.
