I'll take 'Bama in that matchup, regardless of all the nay-sayers that say the worst NFL team can still beat the best NCAA team.  In this case Jax is so awful that several college teams would give them a run for the money.

just as you predicted...rays lost and both indians and rangers kept winning. now rangers and rays are tied for the last wildcard spot..they'll play a play-in game today at texas..winner plays indians in the wildcard game. rangers get cruz back since he has finished his 50-game suspension...that should help their offensive production since he was the rbi and hr leader for the rangers when he went out 50 games ago. go rangers! Clap

Yeah i'm predicting the Rangers beat the Rays tonight and take the last wc spot. Price hasn't been very good lately or this season actually. And like you said, with Cruz coming back from suspension it only makes things worse for the Rays. But it doesn't matter, cuz the red hot Indians are gonna move on.

^^ David Price pitched a good complete game and only allowed 2 runs, so they'll be playing the Indians in the 1-game AL wildcard. Should be a good game to watch Wednesday.

I also give the edge to the Pirates...they just swept the Reds this past weekend to end the reg season.

Pirates beat the Reds to move on to the NLDS against St. Louis.  Russell Martin hits 2 HRs in the win.  Two great series in the NL, Pitts vs. St. Louis and LA vs. Atlanta.

NHL season started last night with a lot of scoring:

Leafs 4  Canadiens 3
Chicago 6  Washington 4
Jets 5  Oilers 4

The mustached George Parros suffers a concussion from slamming face first into the ice during a fight.  Not a Parros fan but I hope he fully recovers.

Unbelievable that NHL is starting again already.

Pirates earned it, and might be my sneaky favorite to win the NL, since LA has injuries.

Red Wings start their first season in the Eastern Conference by hosting the Buffalo Sabres tonight.

Busy sports weekend:  Tigers vs A's, Lions go to Lambeau Field (where they are 0-19), Michigan opens the Big 10 season against Minnesota in the battle for the Little Brown Jug and my kids both have football games on Sunday.

It's going to take a few games to get used to it.  It's all about player safety, some of those races to get to the puck result in pretty nasty collisions.

Nothing will ever be as bad as that. That won't happen again. This team is looking pretty good hopefully the goalie situation works itself out.

I would be willing to go for Bama straight up. Which also means a lot for the Jags if ppl are already betting on college teams over them. I hope they don't come to LA :-(

^ About the Jags moving to LA...A bad NFL team in town is better than no NFL team in town. They could be bad for a couple years after the move, and slowly get better. But, if you have no team, there's nothing to get better...

As good as Alabama is, I wouldn't bet money on them beating the worst NFL team. Even the best college QB have had to adjust to the speed of the NFL game and all of them say it's much faster. There's just no comparison.

That used to be true before Jacksonville this season, I would still put money on 'Bama.

As much as I'd root for Tampa, part of me doesn't want them to go far just cuz it would suck to have a WS team with the lowest attendance record in baseball.

so you want a skipper that gets you into some big games just to make some funky decisions to lose it? (i.e. leaving Cueto in the game too long)  he's done that all his career..he'll get you in the playoffs, but won't win much there...

At this point, the Jays being able to make the playoffs is a milestone itself! If Dusty can bring them to the post-season but eff up somewhere than so be it. Playoffs is better than no playoffs.

Some good action today with the A's beating the Tigers in Detroit.

Boston and Tampa locked in a 3-3 tie, Boston trying for the sweep.

^ Agree, the game times are re-tarded.  It's all about the mighty dollar... and getting Boston on Prime Time.

A really good college team filled with really good college players against a professional team comprised of the best college players to come out of college within the past decade or so, who have years more physical and mental maturity playing the game?

I know it's the cliche pick, but there's no way in hell Alabama even makes it a competitive game against an NFL team, even if it is Jacksonville.

Anything is possible when it's a H2H league. And you can usually find a no name players who get hot that you can ride for a few weeks here and there.
