Not really in Chicago proper.  Usually gotta travel at least 3 hours to Devil's Head, Cascade, Chestnut, etc. for decent MW runs.

If you need a more local fix, there is Raging Buffalo.  Never been there myself.

Check out http://www.meetup.com/windycityboarders/ to find peeps to ride with.
No matter where you go, there you are.

There are also some places in Michigan that are suppose to be decent. Seems like they get dumped on all winter with lake effect. Haven't been to any myself but they look way better then anything you will find in Chicagoland.

Sorry i have to disagree, wilmot is crap... i live in the burbs and have been to wilmot many times, it definitely worth the hour extra drive to alpine valley, devils head or my favorite chestnut. Raging buffalo is good if you like tricks, its basically one sole terrain park with one tow rope.

negative, Wilmot is probably the worst place to go within a 3 hour radius,  I would suggest Alpine if you live in the city, then Chestnut/Devil's Head

Thats for the replies guys.  Hopefully I'll be able to find time to make some of these trips once I move out there.

Well from Chicago Wilmot is pretty close and decent.  It's not too bad, alpine is only 1/2 hour so if ur in that direction already its not a bad drive.

i would recommend chestnut. i just came from there yesterday and it was great. the runs are pretty well-groomed. though it was like 45 degrees during the day the slopes were not that bad.

Well, definitely don't go to Villa Olivia. The place is basically an oversized sledding hill with a few tow ropes and 1 old, slow lift.

I've ridden at Granite Peak before.  It's probably the best Wisconsin has to offer.  The lifts are fast, and the runs are probably the longest you're going to find in the Chicago area (though, my gut says that Cascade's runs may be longer).  Granite Peak is a solid 5 hours away from downtown Chicago, so single-day trips there are quite demanding (10 hours of driving total).  If you're used to Midwest boarding, Granite Peak will be a more enjoyable experience.

granite looks solid.  i don't know how accurate this is (i can't find cascade's info on their website) but DH does list @ 300 acres and 500ft drop.

Say Shhhhhh...

From that pic, granite looks pretty good.  Going to have to look into making trips there.

I live about 45 minutes north of Chicago.  So if your looking for something interesting either travel a bit out west to Chestnut, or go North to Cascade.  Wilmot is ok, but its not worth it unless you live like 20 minutes away.  I say just leave really early in the morning and go to Cascade or Chestnut.  Chestnut has one of the nicest parks iv seen around Chicago are.  Im probably gonna head up to Cascade this weekend to finish off the season

Wilmot is not worth it if you live next door.

Wilmot isn't bad, I've been there once when it wasn't that icy.

not too exciting of a place, but still better than nothing I'd say
