When hot waxing boards with normal bindings, I loosen the binging screws to prevent "board suck."
Do you need to loosen the bindings on an ICS board? I probably will just to be on the safe side but do you need to. Will the channel dissipate enough of the bindings force that it will not cause the board to "suck in" when hot waxing. |

I dont think you have to, but i dont loosen screws on regular bindings either, and never had a problem....and i've waxed or have seen boards waxed hundreds of times

Oh I guess its just personal experience then, I've had a board that the base was concave where the bindings were mounted after half a doz hot wax or so. |

I take my bindings off when I wax.
I know its a waste of time, but I don't really care about the 2 extra minutes or so to take them off and put back on |

Better to take the extra minute or two and play it safe removing the bindings.

As alot of people said, if it puts your mind at ease then definitely do it....its very easy. even though i personally dont do it, i dont think its a waste of time to loosen the screws because its so easy to do.

I would think you wouldn't have to,unlike regular bindings pressure can't build up in the ics sytem because there isn't no air tight seal. This is just my opinion base on info that i know of the ics system, not having firsthand experience.

It shouldn't really make a difference. The ICS system, and Inserts - work in different ways.
It's good to loosen your bindings when you're using traditional inserts - because the force of the binding screws pulling on the inserts can cause binding dimples in your base. On ICS - you don't have that direct force from the screw directly to the base of your board - so it really shouldn't happen. I suppose it is technically possible - but I highly doubt it. If it makes you feel better to loosen 'em - go for it - but, i really don't see it being as big of an issue. |

I think you are on to it!!! There is not any force placed on the base of the board when the bindings are done up tight. The only force on this system is between the top of the channel and the binding. So no matter how tight the binding are its not going to affect the base. So I don't think I have to loosen the binding when waxing, saving myself 1 minute of time waxing my board, with that time I think I will chug a beer and thank Laorider254 for making my life a little better! |
