I went Mon and Tues. It's more crowded than a normal weekday because schools are on spring break.

Haven't had to worry about snowplayers all season.  Sadly I'd rather have had good snow and all the crap (traffic, snowplayers, lines) that go with it.

it's been really hot since the dump of snow,
Wouldn't expect any snowplayers on the sides of the road.
I've seen them close to the exit on West side.

I think it is.  The last 2 seasons were probably the exception with the resort closing last week of April and into May.

i messaged some other resorts in socal and apr 8th is a loose date. the march storms seems to have extended things for a bit.

is the east resort already closed off? I know they opened it up a few weeks ago when it dumped. You can kind of use that as a trend to see how the base is holding up.

but yea usually 2nd or 3rd week of april is the norm.

East resort is closed and with how warm it was...I see it actually closing on the 8th.  A huge puddle formed at the top and everything was slush.

It doesn't even seem like mt high got those 2 storms at all.

I fear we are reaching the endCry
it gets really slow around noon.
And I can't imagine they'd want to stay open past Easter because last Monday was super empty.
Sadness will ensue.

Lately I've been lowering my expectations, so I'll expect the end of the world.
And rejoice if I'm alive next seasonTongue
Til then, possible Mammoth trip may be in the future before Independance day.

i've heard predications that next season will be back to normal if not slightly better... but I always that at the beginning of each season. I'll watch for the the long term forecast and farmers almanac predication in mid summer and just take them with a grain of salt.

in the meantime i'll just focus on surfing or maybe wakeboarding to try to fill the void of the season.

Damn, i'm going the 2 weekends prior to that, so dont think i can make that last weekend. 3 in a roll is a stretch for me to drive. And yeah, you'll have to be in Forest that weekend, they plan to close Canyon after 4/22, so no South Park :( Hopefully you guys shoot some vids!

I believe it's up til Easter.
I didn't need speed at all.
It was getting shut down periodically because people were getting hurt.

Yeah I saw so many people taking spills on that box.  Speed isn't an issue...I think the first couple of boxes are tilted so you have to aim to the left.  I kept coming on dead center so I would shoot off to the right after 3-4boxes.

They're open tomorrow, and day to day after.
They may be open the upcoming weekend if a storm hits.

I agree, if the storm coming up leaves enough snow then they're gonna want to open for one more week so let's hope it's a good storm coming up.

One of my friend's friend found the golden egg.  Apparently he followed a mt high employee around 10 who hid it on the dirt at the turn of upper chisholm.

So I guess the golden egg isn't on the mountain from the get go...

there's was a big thread debate over this and it got pretty heated. Outside of snow conditions:
The drive to mt high is easier, especially after a storm.
parking is usually easier at big bear if you dont mind getting shuttled from the lower lot.
Mt High has a cheaper season pass $350($300 for renewals) vs $409 (bear only anytime)
Chair 9 at bear is the worst. But so are some of the bottom lifts at Mt High's West resort. If you know where to go, you can avoid the crowds.
like mentioned before, the snow quality is about the same.

Mammoth is nice, but it's kind of hard to hit that every weekend. Bear/Mt High have shorter drives, thus making the pass easier to get your money's worth.

you're right.  everybody doesn't think the same way.

IMO, snow is the same.  If it dumps between the two, its a pow day.  It if hot, it's a slush day.  Both places maintain their groomed runs well.  Everything else, what nautika stated.

It also depends on what kind of riding you like to do too.  But if you can go to Mammoth all the time then go for it.  LOL
Sessions sucks hairy monkey balls, the end.

both bear and mtn high have similar terrain with plenty of features. I think the air bag at mt high and the large amounts of easy terrain w/o features at snow summit are things to note also.
