Donald Says: The Burton Dominantà What can I say? Well this board has dominated the world of park riding since the day it hit the market. The handrail killer is what comes to mind when I hear the word Dominant because of its super forgiving flex, which helps to lock onto the biggest of rails with the most technical tricks. Also it has a completely centered stance, so riding switch and regular is exactly equal. The 3 degree base bevel on the edges makes catching your edge while jibbing impossible. This year the Dominant is rocking Burtons all new core, the Park Fly core, so it will have a lighter swing weight and adds some durability as well. This board is awesome for the guy who spends all day in the park, even on a powder day.

Mike Says:The Burton Dominant is an interesting board. Burton designed the Dominant to play in the park. Every aspect of the Dominant's construction helps snowboarders do tricks on rails, jumps, etc. We recommend that you are very confident riding every aspect of the resort before you start trying tricks in the terrain park. Go slide some boxes, go have fun, go on the dominant.

Now I am a freeskier, but I do snowboard on occasion. I have ridden the Dominant of last year and it was the best board I have ever ridden. I am a huge fan of it being a true twin tip. I know it is a park board, but it rides wonderfully on the whole mountain. I was more confident on this board than I have ever been on any other board. I was carving up the blacks at blue and I was out riding a lot of my friends that snowboard all of the time. I love the topsheet because it doesn't showcase scracthes and dings. I would recommend this board to anyone that wants a park board that still can shred the entire moutain.

The Dominant. One of the top sellers for Burton year after year. It was designed to "dominate" the manmade terrain. Now after multiple years (five), it's back.

Personally I hate the graphics. But graphics don't make the board. And as the copy says "it was designed to make you sick."

Last year they took the Dominant and stiffened it up between the bindings. The result? The board rips. It still is super solid and locks up the rails, but now it can also freeride a bit over the mountain.

I personally think this is a result of Rome's Artifact and Agent (which both can kill it in the park but also can freeride) and the change in snowboard styles: more big booters and backcountry sessions. This trend can also be seen in Burton's new Twin.

Bottom line: Looking to focus on only the park and street but still need to get around the hill (East Coast style), consider the Dominant.

To this day the dominants are starting to show up more and more.

Last year they were in...and this year they are IN IN.

The graphics are sick...once again

and the performance of the board is even better!

Along with most flexy/park boards... It has a price of under 400 bucks, which won't put to much of a dent in your walet (good thing eh?)

With the popularity of this board you know it must be good(and it is!)

Spin that 900 you just couldn't get last year, or 270 onto that downrail you thought you could never do.

It'll do the job everytime and won't let you down.

Another good thing about the dominant is that it is also very stable on the groomers and can take a slash through the pow and still go strong.

A++++
Very good board and very good price
wouldn't ever turn someone away from this if they were interested

one of my buddies is a die hard burton rider. and he talks about this thing religiously. its obviously strictly his park board but man he can butter the thing like no ther. and it handles jumps very well. he has the one with the no edges and so far he has no damage from rails to his even after a full season.so if your looking for a strictly park board get this bad boy

last year's dominant was sick. this years is even sicker. i'm gonna call this year's dominant the ebola, but... the graphics are horrible! Burton had a good thing with the graphics of years past. what happened??? bring back the old graphics! i had to go with K2's WWW cuz the graphics sucked so bad on this board. not saying the WWW is a lesser board, but i was looking forward to purchasing this years dominant and not this years kaleidoscope board by Burton. anyway, i'm hoping that Burtons r&d get enough negative feed back about the graphics that they revert to their old ways. Burton dominant '08 = beefed up edges and better graphics! keep everything else the same!
Byaaah!

I tried the Dominant Slick Saturday on NorthStar
IT WAS AMAZING!!!!

I thought my GNU Street Series is good, but this Dominant slick is BETTER.

It handles rails and boxes as good as Street Series can. Plus it's faster than my Street Series. It also performs ok on powder. Bevel of this board didn't border me much while I was riding in powder or doing freeride stuff, but it did help me on boardslides.

GREAT Board!
I have never thought there is ANY good Burton board under 500. Dominant proved that I am WRONG!

They had the Dominant Slick on Saturday? I was at NS on Sunday for the Vans Cup final and the Burton Rep. said he never had the Slick. You sure you were not riding the regular Dominant. Anyway, it was a great board and I preferred it over the Vapor when I demo them.

Is the 2010 dominant good?
Im thinking about getting it but Im not sure if it good.
Im a 2nd year rider and this will be my first board. I like going on trails and I can do park stuff, but I just can't decide if I should get this board or wait for 2011 boards.

I have the 2010 Dominant and I like it. Works great for anything in the park and works for groomers too, but I felt it was too soft for the black diamonds runs. Really easy to ride and hard to fall too on the blues. It will probably be just a park board for me. My favorite is the Hero. Sounds like it would be good for what you like too. I've ridden it on everything- blacks, park, pipe, even a banked slolom course. You might look at the Sierra Reverse Crew too. It's based on the Burton Custom V-rocker, just a lot cheaper.
