I am beginning to wonder if even doing product reviews is worth it anymore. Just looked at my points in my profile and found that I am at 6/10 spam for reviews. I am not sure how a few of them got on there. What is wrong with the following reviews:
Experience:
After about 9 years of riding a Liquid Trip 60, just about
anything would be a worthwhile upgrade. After reading reviews for hours
and hours I decided on the K2 Raygun 156. I couldn't be happier with
my choice. First run was at Winter Park, CO. Got on the board and
everything felt so natural. Easy to turn, holds good at speed, it gave
me a lot of confidence. Continued the day through some deep powder,
some moguls, groomed, and ungroomed runs. It was great on everything.
Never took it to a terrain park, but did hit some natural jumps and the
board response was great.
Experience:
Bought this helmet and its a bit lighter than my old RED Skycap,
however the size also runs smaller so I cannot use it, Red medium fits
great, this medium put a lot of pressure on my head. They also make
this helmet in a summer version, which is what got shipped to me, so be
careful and make sure you get the winter version.
I do not have any board shops around me, so online was the only way to
go.
"Good Binding" 3/1/2011
Experience:
I rode a Burton Jussi with these Bindings. Coming from
my Nidecker bindings these things were simply amazing! I loved the toe
cap, didn't pressure the pinky toe like my old bindings. Strap release
was a bit confusing at first, but once I found it they released real
good. It may have been his settings but I found myself constantly
riding on my toes! Overall a good binding, but I think I prefer my new
bindings 2011 K2 Formula over these.

I guess it is because people expect a review to be 5 pages with really detailed describtion. Me myself, are perfectly fine with how the "thing" worked for you :) The K2 Raygun; How you explained where you went and were you did'nt test it, and what you did to balace for the "did not do's". Your previous experience with similar products and so on. I like this short review's, they kinda got what I need to know. I do not need the 5 pages with research, and "rip-apart's". I guess you could make a own topic; Commisar short reviews. And put all your reviews in there. You will not get as much points, but you can still help fellow boarders as me out :) - P My english isn't my strongest side, so sorry for that. |

Thanks, I am at a point where points aren't a big driver anymore, I have all new equipment and don't need replacements for some time. Was just surprised to see that much spam for reviews, and don't want to get my account locked for when I do need to get replacement bindings or eventually a board. Maybe the next review will be a novel! lol.

^ Reaching the spam limit on either forum posts or product reviews won't lock your account, but you will no longer be able to post in that medium anymore. You can still earn daily login points as well as purchase points.
I'm not sure when those 3 reviews were flagged but I did notice you posted two on the same day. I used to do that too and it did attract some unwanted attention... so I've learned to spread them out now. I think you'll be fine with your current content, just space them out I guess. A couple of my, what I thought were meaningful, reviews got flagged too. As for content, as long as it's honest, the more content the better. Extra effort is rewarded here. Also, apparently when a review hits 5 "NO" clicks, it gets flagged as well, just fyi. |

I don't think I personally would flag any of those reviews, I might say the binder review was not helpful, but not enough for the spam hammer. But my guess would be just from reading those reviews, it comes off as you personally do not have that much time on the stuff you are reviewing. It seems you got the product, rode said product for a day, then reviewed it. At least...that's how it comes off to me.. |

Yay! less people reviewing. :) To be honest, thats no skin off my nose if people think its not worth it. In fact you just made my job easier. So far from a threat, its actually something we love and would encourage. The more people put off from reviewing the easier it is to pull shit eviws, which means the more likely it is that people will put some effort in their reviews so we dont pull them. Win win. That being said... I didnt pull them, i have no idea who pulled them, but lets see if i can offer a balanced account of things... 1. Raygun Review: Plenty of fluff and padding (you mention other boards but only in passing for example, little in the way of a direct comparison is drawn). But the review didnt depend on fluff... so the real meat... heres what i took away from it: the boards kinda fine in all conditions. Youre happy with it. It responds well and sounds reasonably forgiving. In truth, the threshold as i say is low, so although its lacking details i wouldnt flag it. Not only did you add some points about it in that were simple to grasp (if a little generic), but its evident immediately you rode it and are writing a genuine opinion on it. If i was thinking about buying the board what id take from your review is that its going to be alright. Id look elsewhere for a bit of a finer tuning on the details, but it would actually factor in my consideration to even start looking elsewhere. So it does its job and its a decent (if lacking in detail) review. 2. Bern Helmet: Immediate comparison with red and more importantly sizing of red helmets versus Bern. This alone means the review shouldnt receive a flag. Also a note that there are two versions of the same helmet. This is MASSIVELY informative to potential customers. No fluff, direct details and information you wont get ithe product discription. Definitely not a flag. 3. 2008 Cartels: You dropped the ball on this one though. Again, you mention other products, but fail to really show a comparison. I cant also be confident enough to decide if the problems youre having with these bindings are because you havent set them up right or if the binding itself is problematic to set up. Okay details about lack of pressure points, but then immediately countered by "found myself riding on my toes" indicating that you havent really set them up well or your feet just arent fitting them great. Its too messy, i cant really work out whether you like them, whether the binding is causing you issues, or whether its just a poor setting up. Its also hard to know what you mean by phrases "riding on my toes" to be honest. Then theres the giveaway "it might have been HIS settings..." arent these your bindings? Im confused? finally, the last sentence mentions a THIRD binding but offers no grounds for the claim at all. Honestly, its a messy confused review. Id pull it. There you go, certainly you shouldnt have gotten a flag for the helmet, you probably shouldnt have got a flag from the k2 review, and you probably should have gotten a flag for the binding review. To improve just take the CONSTRUCTIVE feedback and look at the points ive given. If you want to review stuff or bring in other products, you need to directly compare them (and direct comparisons are GREAT, they really help any review). You cant just mention them. And if you are saying i prefer x to y, you need to say WHY you prefer x to y. Also padding is unnecessary. I could write a ten thousand word review on any product on this site but no one wants to read it. Stick to the facts. Keep it detailed. Add to the product information. Show you have some genuine experience using the product in the area it should be used. Hope this helps.

Too many reviews lacking depth. Many short one liners. One board he hasn't even ridden and the review is up to 17 No clicks already:
Short and lacking reviews as well: EDIT: My bad, didn't realize they've been inactive for so long... I was actually just reading through some reviews for info and came across theirs.

your reviews arent that great. Sorry dude, but youll have to kinda figure this out. Hang tight though, im in the middle of trying to write a post to help you out. Suffice it to say however, once youre named in this thread, chances are youre going to be locked out. We all dont have the same level of tolerance for poor reviews after all :) Chill out, read some of the replies ive given in this thread, and read the sticky thread on writing quality reviews. Then youll probably see why your reviews were considered below par. If you still feel aggrieved though, just list the flags you think were unfair and ill try and explain why you got them (or even as you can see form the longish post a few comments above) ill even agree with you and explain why it was unfair to flag it.

Probably your weak sauce reviews. Really man, I just read through the ones you had left, and If I had the power I would delete at least 80 percent of what's left. For me, one of the biggest things I look for (besides fit) is how durable a product is. Can't find anything in any of your review that touched base on this. You don't have to write a dissertation, but I do expect you to talk at length about how the product worked for you. Imagine you are describing the product to a blind person. When you can't physically touch/feel/use something, you want to know as much as you can about it. Sorry if that means you need to write more than a few sentences. Also mate, bumping up a 2+ year old thread does not help your case. Push comes to shove, I didn't find a single one of your reviews helpful, and it wasn't because of "grammar". |

Look reviews are subjective. You're looking for durability. Mine are unique. What would I regurgitate what people said already. I thought about purchasing a 154 custom twin as I ride a 154 custom directional 2010 line, but it's a good thing I didn't because I went to a local dealer and they were very helpful. Not one review posted my information. What do you mean +2 year old thread? Stop trolling bro. Seriously, what are you talking about on your 2k+ posts?

Actually, I am looking for anything possible that can be said about a product. Unlike a few that frequent this site, I personally DO want a dissertation. If I am buying something online, I want to know everything about it from people that have used it, and used it for a while. I personally do not find any review that starts out "I demoed this", useful. I personally don't think you can fully describe and review a product after only using it for a few hours, but hey....that is just me. Just because another review doesn't say what you said, doesn't make it helpful IMO. Hell, I could rant on about totally random stuff, doesn't make it helpful. Your point is invalid. Point is, there are multiple people here that do not find your reviews helpful. Don't take it so personal, not everyone is meant to write reviews. If ya end up getting "locked out" from reviews, I can assure you it is for a reason. It's not because someone doesn't like you. As far as trolling....that is your opinion. I personally look at it as trying to help out and offer advice into why you keep getting marked. I would bet a few cheezzburgers that a few others here agree on that, brah. EDIT: As far as the 2+ year old thread, I am talking about you bumping the "Spam appeals" thread....last post was Oct. 2010. And as far as my 2K+ thread posts...I was talking about things...like snow, and cats, and photos, and riding lame ass Ohio hills, and bikes (lots of bikes) and music (also lots of music) and so on....I spend a bit of time here....brah. Shit adds up. |

I don't have a twitter account for a reason....and this isn't some hash tag shit fest. Rules are the rules, guides lines are the guide lines...deal with it son. Obviously, the person the spam hammered your reviews didn't find it helpful either, eh? Relevant is debatable. IMO there wasn't really a reason to dig up that thread, you could of just kept the convo going here...you know...in a current SPAM thread. Although, I do have to kind of thank you for digging that gem up (as Ipps said as well), Just got done reading that thread from start to finish, and oh hell it's a good one ![]() Anyways, one last note...that scrip doesn't work here.... ![]() |

![]() Of course I posted on that thread because it's relevant! I searched "Product Spam" on the forum search engine. Sure you find it irrelevant and not helpful, but that's you. Whose to say someone else may find that helpful. You do realize in this modern age of Twitter, people don't want a dissertation.

Ok comrade. Oh batman west you're so witty. Where do you come with these phrases? You mentioned that you don't want people to say "they demoed this." You might as well petition TruSnow to remove "I've demoed this" and "I want this" as an option. |

Please dont think every review is a special snowflake. If its crap, it gets pulled. You dont lose any points, you just dont get the points for reviewing the item. You also get closer to ten flags and locking yourself out of the reviews. Im not going to be dickish about it, but also remember this:
There is a criteria. The review has to have a purpose. We are pretty consistent in what gets pulled and what stays up. We cant of course catch all the reviews that are crappy, theres just not enough people on line to do it, plus this isnt a job despite how it sometimes feels. Ive got more important things to do than go through each item in each brand and pulling the crap reviews. For instance, id rather be WRITING reviews. Massively detailed (ONE TruSnow POINT ONLY!) reviews on the forums instead of in the review section. I like doing that because the review system is too damn small for me to say what i need to say. And i like being thorough. :) If you think we are going to buy into the idea that every review is a special unique take on it despite its OBJECTIVE value since its a perspective and all perspectives are equally valuable then im afraid youre going to get locked out. The best way to not get locked out is to stop thinking you are entitled to write whatever you want because its all valuable and its all a perspective, and instead to take on board the constructive criticism here and elsewhere and realise there is a criteria, your reviews are being judged for the content and value they add to the product description, and that we have absolutely no problem flagging them if they dont offer anything of value to the site and to the business (a massive run on sentence for the hell of it :)) Again, please understand im only being a bit blunt here because im worried youre convincing yourself its a free for all. Its not. Theres a criteria. Ive told you what it is in the other thread. And your reviews will be flagged based on it. Please dont give up if youre sincere, and take on baord what im saying. Genuinely you should really be locked out already because almost all of your reviews are lacking in any real detail. Ironically its only really because the review system is so poorly maintained that you have yet to be locked out. If it was much tidier, the criteria would go up, we'd have several new mods to replace the ones we lost over the years, and poor reviews would have very little chance of squeezing through the teensy chasms.

Thanks mate! I assure you it's all original material right from me noggin. (wait, is this your attempt at embarrassing me as you stated in the PM you just sent me?) As far as petitioning TS to remove the "Demo" option for reviews, not gonna happen. While yes, I really don't think it SHOULD be an option, there is nothing I can do about it, and it's not worth my time or energy to annoy a bunch of people about it in hopes to get it ended. I will offer you the same advice in your spammed reviews. Move on, take in all the things and suggestions mentioned. Ipps offered you many suggestions for next time (as usual) so just don't sweat it. I am sorry you have to look at my "ugly" profile picture, my mom thinks I'm handsome btw. Honestly, I think you are lucky that all your reviews have not been marked. Someone out there is giving you a chance by leaving you at 7 of 10. Take that as your second....thir.....seventh chance and roll with it. Move along, nothing else to see here /rants/bitching. |

If someone still coded this site, you bet your ass those would have been pulled at least two years ago. :) Alas, it seems nighthawk (who wrote it and long since left) has the code completely locked up so any alteration they try and make to the site causes the whole thing to auto destruct. They dont tamper with it too often, but when they do it usually means the community button leads to an error message and you have to figure a way around to get to the forums. :) Happens more than you think.

First, I want to thank Sintexo for assisting me in responding to my question in a kindly way.
Second, Batmanwest, to mention something about a pm in a public forum? Wow just wow, I'll let you be the judge of that. What I mean't was you spent so much time on your profile, yet you omit the "my stuff" section. Is it laziness or you're afraid Big Brother is on to you? Third, "mom think's I'm handsome," so cliche. Good job. I'm just being the better man this will be my last post on this matter, Batmanwest you should be ashamed, you're married and its 1:50 am in the morning and your posting why are you doing up so late? Fourth, "Lawyered"

FWIW, I too much rather prefer reading through long reviews and place much greater value on them over the ones just a few sentences long. Someone taking that much time to write all that, in my opinion, cares more about sharing that information with prospective buyers. My early reviews were too short and I got dinged for them. Some of my later ones, which I thought were quite valid and lengthy too, I got dinged for as well. You win some you lose some. I do think you're lucky to be kept at 7 out of 10 as I've read through some of your remaining reviews... so be thankful for that. I've said this a few times already on this thread but here it is again, avoid posting 3 reviews per day. It's your daily limit, I know, but once you do that, particularly in close succession... you're going to attract attention you don't want. It's happened to me. I too do not really trust the opinion of demo-ers. I prefer the words from someone who had more time with the product and was able to test it under various conditions. Nowadays, I like to spend at least a handful of days on the hill testing the product before I write my review. Batmanwest is showing a bit of patience with you with his responses to your personal attacks. I do believe he is trying to offer you sound advice. I suggest you put the angst aside and kindly move on. You're getting close to your 1500... you'll get there in no time with logins and forum posts, just don't become a 5 and out-er! |

Poor reviews and a non-photo entry in the Funny pics thread... 2 strikes, no balls.

While I do not find batmanwest attractive I do not think he is an ugly bloke plus he does get style points for that damned fine mustache. And what he does at 1:00am whether he's married or not isn't really anyone's business. And now for my personal attack... batmanwest lives in OH, 'nuff said! ![]() Some people just need to relax, we're discussing points and crappy reviews here not world politics or debating religious views. Online personal attacks and sending PMs bitching at someone is weak and spineless (rec'd a few of those myself...). And now another personal attack... dtj, you dress funny. Peace out motherfockers. |

^ My guess is she won a snowboard and rode it off into the sunset, smiling while the rest of us chumps continue to login and not win.
Nice new goggles, JDig. |

I think BMW is a fine looking man. If dudes were my cup of tea, I'd give his wife some competition for sure.
