The mountains are all white today, 2 months out from the start of the ski season.

In New Zealand the season starts in june and runs into October.

Most resorts close not because of lack of snow but becuase they only market and have healthy guest numbers till mid october.

Its great to see the mountains starting to collect snow, I Can't wait to get my Pod back on the roof of the wagon and load up the lads for our weekend warrior trips.

Glad to hear the mts up by you are collecting snow!  Down here in Welly waiting for the season to start.  Hopefully Taranaki and Tuora get record dumps!

Yep according to my friend who drove from Welly to Auckland there's snow on Tuora.  Btw the season passes for Whakapapa are still on sale till the end of April if you haven't picked them up already.  $385 vs the $695 full price.  Single day passes are $80, so you can do the math! Wink

All they need is a Credit Card, and address to send the pass, and a photo of you to send in.

I'll just get one next year after thinking about, I need to find more mate that snowboard this year so next year I can get up there enough.

This year I'll just pay the normal day rate since my mates are tight on money.

Keep an eye out during the end of season this year (ie November/December) for 2010 season pass.  Raupehu sells them at extreme discounted price for a week.  I think it was $195.

Ruapehu were selling I season pass per day at $1 in November. I think it was like at the end of everyday they would pick one person that had ordered a pass that day and give it to them for $1.
I only snowboard because its cool.

i think the $550 is concession. It's > $1K for adult season pass..

btw.. Cardrona (NZ) has a base of 120cm up top as of today. It's been snowing heavily there for the last few days.

doing a season in Queenstown at the moment and its been f***ng epic so far, boarding pretty much every day legs permitting. Awesome people here from all over the world and totally insane nightlife, everyone seems to just get on with it even if they're sleeping in their car.

I think QT season passes are now running at 1299 NZD.
