WHAT? Damn I wish you told me sooner. When I was working onsite freelancing, I was right across the street from the Cartoon Art Museum which is around the corner from SoMA.
I just went to Paragon in Union Square (NYC) to check out a Freebord in person. Things kinda heavy and I think impossible to commute on. Purely for downhill which is cool.

Freebord HQ is the Freebord headquarters. They have a warehouse located very close to downtown San Francisco. The guys there are super nice. In fact, I emailed them asking them if I could stop by their warehouse and they said "We are BBQing right now. Stop on buy for hot dogs and beer." How nice is that! I was going to go buy a used one, but seeing as how cool those guys are I might just go and buy brand new one.
right now the promotion on freebord.com is 169.99 for a complete setup. I don't think their models very much becaus they are all priced the same.

I guess you could test out boards.. I went yesterday and picked myself up a freeboard. I got the corporate 80. They are super nice there. Its not like a huge dreamy spot or anything. Imagine a warehouse/loft. It is kinda small in the middle of nowhere. These are guys that dream of snowboarding.... during the summer time haha. They had a board there that i could try out. It was pretty sad watching me try it for the first time. imagine learning how to snowboard for the very first time again... except your falls will hurt much more.. Anyways i will write a comprehensive review of the freebord once I learn how to bomb on it.

haha yeah i always tell everyone that its just like re learning how to snowboard, but they never believe me until they actually try it for the first time ![]()
2-3 weeks tops if you ride it hard everyday. i have good friend who rode it 6 or 7 hours everyday for the first week and he was cruising fast down some steep hills on his 7th day |

Two seperate guys asked me if I had a helmet... or protective gear.. they were very adimit about me wearing a helmet. Which was nice.
Apparently there is a pretty decent size group of freebord riders in SF. Its defenitly a fledgling community. Also, as i walked downtown with my freeboard over my shoulder. I got atleast 5 "WTF is that" questions lol. Also.. I got this board for 169 + Tax. This model is their older clearance model. They have a newer model that has new trucks which look slightly more substantial but was $60 more. I didn't feel like coughing up more dough and I like the corporate graphics (I'm a business man afterall) Anyways if any of you San Franciscans decide to buy one, hit me up and we can learn together!
