you may want to avoid whistler due to winter olympics happening around then...its going to be a mad house trying to do anything around there...

a good place to check out is banff.

How does one go about getting a job working in the Canadian snow fields somewhere? I was thinking of going to Big White..

Google IEP a few friends have gone over with them and have got resort jobs through them. Some other friends have gone over and some wish they went with IEP and then others think IEP is a bit of a rip off though.

Also go anywhere but whistler and you should have a fair few runs to your self, because everyone will be at the olympics.

Saying that some resorts may be closed?

I checked out IEP, don't think it's worth it. You shouldn't have any trouble getting a temp working visa if you're under 30yo for Canada, and I think they prefer you start earlier than January (that's when I was thinking of going too). They have some other program (not the ski canada one) that you can go through if you're not starting earlier but it seemed like a bit of a rip...

I guess it varies from person to person, but they have info days so if that's something you're interested in you can do that.

Dude seriously anywhere you go in BC slash western Alberta is going to be super sick. Take the others advice and stay away from whistler. I am from the Okanagan area of BC which consists of Apex, Big White, Silverstar, And Mt Baldy. Those are all super good mountains (maybe not baldy) in central BC. Also south east BC (the area is called the Kootenays) is epic powder with resorts like Fernie, Red Mountain, and Whitewater just to name a few. Also of course there are the BC/Alberta Rockies which are teaming with rediculously good mountains like Revelstoke, Lake Louise, Panorma, Marmot Basin, and Kicking Horse just to name a few again. Basically what I am trying to say is anywhere you go in BC will be good times. If you are looking into that job at Big White you would not be dissapointed it is an awesome mountain, not much as far as steeps go but the park is a contender for one of the best, and the tree riding is argueably some of the best in BC. Just stick to BC/Western AB the rest of Canada is useless compared to us on the westcoast!
