Detroit would save a ton of money in cap room.  They would get another 7 million next year, on top of the 20+ million they already have from the Iverson contract coming off the books.

Essentially Boston is trying to trade Rondo before his issues become more known in the media and his value is still high.  Let these rumors keep floating around for a few more weeks, and someone will slip up and tweet that they can't stand him, and his value will drop significantly.

I saw that jefferson trade on ESPN while I was at the gym.  Good for SA but I am not sure why the bucks did it unless it is to save cap room.

Cap room is it.  They want to be able to re-sign Villenueva and Sessions.

Rumors swirling locally of a deal involving Amare Stoudimire for Portland, who will then flip him to Chicago immediately for some sort of a package involving Kirk Heinrich.  Local guys are pushing for Loul Deng in the process, but thats just the fans talking I think.  Trying to get  a hold of my cousin to see what the real chatter is.

It appears that portland is talking to everyone right now.  Kevin Pritchard sure knows how to get in and haggle.

I wonder if the Nuggets will do anything this offseason.  I am not even sure who their free agents are.  They need to keep that team together.  If they don't get complacent with their success they should compete for the #1 spot in the west next season.

Denver has a couple free agents, but nothing major and they should sign them pretty easilly:

Birdman
Dahntey Jones
Anthony Carter
Klieza

All pretty much no brainers, and none of them will command a lot of money from anyone else.  THey are pretty much set.  All they needed was more experience and a few calls and they could have been in the finals.

I think JR Smith is going to have a huge season next year, he is growing by leaps and bounds and his head is finally catching up with his athleticism/skills.

I think the Jefferson deal was the first domino, new trades

The Wizards have agreed in principle to trade Etan Thomas, Oleksiy Pecherov, Darius Songaila and the fifth pick in the draft for Randy Foye and Mike Miller, according to Yahoo! Sports ... Amir Johnson to the Bucks

unfortunately, i think the Kings are going to do absolutely nothing AGAIN. not like they really have anyone of any value, anyways.

is it possible to trade GMs and owners?

Jefferson to Spurs, huh? i was never a fan of Jefferson. personally, i think he's got a bit of Antoine Walker syndrome. he thinks he's an awesome player, but he's a simple role player at best. Jefferson is good for 15/8, maybe, but i think anything more than that and he'll probably be taking away from the main players of the team.
peace.

I agree with you on Jefferson.

The other thing is his game is based on his athleticism, not so much his skills.  I think he is just on the point of going downhill fast.  He is 29 already.  Another year or two and he starts turning into a 15 million per year role player.

Plus, he seems to bitch a lot when he isn't the focal point of the offense.  Reportedly he was jealous of Vince Carter in NJ.

Kings don't have any assets to work with.  It will be interesting what they do.

yeah, teams need to realize Jefferson's worth quick because he's going to be a huge thorn in their sides once he's useless. personally, i think that point is long past, but whatever.

you're right, Kings have nothing. Petrie wouldn't trade anything either, which is stupid. actually, let me take that back. he WOULD trade the one person that i'd actually like to see them keep, and the one person that you wish the Blazers WOULD'VE kept, Ike Diogu.

i wish the Kings didn't get screwed in the Lottery. if they got the 1st like it SHOULD'VE been (that's why Lotterys suck), they could've gotten Griffin and used him as trade bait. i think Griffin is good, but i'm not sure if he's going to be as awesome as people are making him out to be. he doesn't appear to have an excellent skill set or a well-rounded one, anyways. Rubio and Thabeet can make some of the nameless players on the Kings look a lot better on paper, which would make for slight interest from other teams to use as trade bait down the middle of the season. unfortunately, it would appear that the Kings will draft yet another SG to back up the other 34598627 SGs on the roster.
peace.

I always thought Diogu would be decent if he just got more playing time.  What kills me is Portland says we need a physical backup PF now in the draft.  Didn't we just give one away this year that was making nothing?

Listing to the ESPN guys on the radio, kinda funny, they just pointed out that Adam Morrison and Darko Milicic both have NBA championship rings.

Rudy Gay has a world of upside. I don't like that trade for Grizzlies.

Darko Milicic and Morrison have nothing to brag about.
Marko Jaric however.....hahaha I still can't believe that ugly Mo@#$fu@#$^ scored the biggest trophy

After the number 1 pick, its a free for all.  Stephen Curry going to the Kings at number 4 in recent mock drafts.  Rubio free falling.  Seriously WTF?!?!?!  WHAT ARE THE KNICKS GOING TO DO WHEN THOSE GUYS ARE OFF THE BOARD?!?!?!

I saw Curry's stock is rising....which I don't get.  He'd be a nice player to have, but I don't see him doing much else besides being a good shooter.  But I guess this years draft class isn't all that great, so that might have something to do with it.

I see Curry being the type of player JJ Reddick is in the NBA.  He may have the potential to be a little bit better.

Just read about the wizards/wolves trade.  Not sure how well it is going to work out for Washington.  How many SG's do they need???

The Washington trade is a lopsided one.  The only incentive they get is cap room at the end of next season.  Good job on the t-wolves part.  They could get Curry AND Rubio if everything goes right for them.  (Which I hope DOES NOT)

I'm not sold on Stephen Curry at all.  I think he will be a solid player, but people who are making Mike Bibby comparisons are crazy, he isn't a natural point guard.  And history has shown that very few people actually learn to play the point in the pro's.  If you haven't figured it out by then, then you are stuck being a tweener.

No idea what the wolves are going for in the draft.  I know they want Rubio, but I'm not sure who their second target is.  They have the 5th and 6th pick now.

Yeah, they have a ton of first rounders.  They will find a way to screw it up I'm sure though.  Foye wasn't that bad a player for them last year, and better than anyone they are going to be drafting.  I don't get their draft strategy at all.  Last year they picked Love, who is a great player, but they already have Al Jefferson.  Just doesn't make sense to me.

That would make sense actually.  Nobody wants to go to Memphis at number 2.  This is what Memphis gets for running a crap organization.

Not sure Rubio will like living in the freezing cold, but he seems determined to get to the NBA.  I hope his buyout goes well.

Open letter to Blake Griffin from Bill Simmons, telling him to run away from the Clippers as fast as he can.

Hilarious!

I have all faith in Kevin Pritchard, but exactly why did we need to complete a trade to move up from 24th in the draft to 22nd?  Was that even worth the paperwork?

Wow, Cavs got Shaq for nothing...I can't believe that trade.

And I like Rubio in the draft tonight, I'd draft him after Griffin (even though I'm not big on Griffin)

Seems like my favourite team will get a new face after the Shaq trade again. I think Shaq did his best last season (I didn't expected much from the aging Diesel, but it seems like Kerr expected a miracle), but the Suns want to extend Steve Nash and they are trying to go back to their run-and-gun style. Steve Kerr made some silly trades and I am afraid, he won't improve much in future.

But they - as you already mentioned - got not much in exchange for Shaq. If they will release Pavlovic and maybe even Wallace, they got nothing but $10 million saving. The draft, free agency and upcoming weeks will be interesting for Suns' fans. Hopefully Steve Kerr is going to think before he acts.

You never know. Remember Shaq's trade to Miami? Everyone thought Lakers got screwed, well they did but they ended up with Odom who was a big contributor to the 09 championship team.

Shaq is nowhere near the player he was 5 years ago.  It should help the Cavs deal with the Magic in the playoffs next year and free up some more cap room for them to try and make a run at another big time player once Shaq's contract is up.  I thought the suns were morons for trading for shaq in the first place.  Oh well you live and you learn.

agreed.
shaq was never a run and gun playing style.
they never should have given up shawn marion.
dumbest move ever made.
according nba.com. if they wanted to save $$, they could of let marion walk after his contract ended and they woulda been saving aroudn $21 mil. instead of the 5-10 mil they saving now. thats depending if they let the 2 players walk as well.
dumb mistake

Here is what I don't get.  Shaq's 22 million comes off the books at the end of the season.

Everyone Pheonix got add's up to around 20 million, also coming off the books at the end of the season.  Plus they can probably buy out Ben Wallace for less.  Why is everyone saying they only saved 5 million?  They probably saved more than that if you figure they don't have to give Wallace the full 14 million.

I'm just confused about the numbers being thrown around.

Edit:  Answered my own question.  They are saying in comparison to when they had Shawn Marion, who would have been a free agent this year.  Basically they are going back a year and comparing, which seems stupid.

I just read some funny column about telling blake to run north and to never play with the clippers b/c they're like curse or something lol.

Will Blake help Clippers turn the whole franchise around and make them a respectable team finally?

No.

Nobody can turn the Clippers around and make them successful.  It starts from the top.  Search back on ESPN for the article from a month or so ago about Donald Sterling, your jaw will drop.  That guy should be stoned to death.

The Sun's training staff is probably one of the best in the league.  They really kept Shaq in shape last year.  I'm curious to see if he will have that same work ethic without anyone pushing him.

Shaq's weight issues are largely his own fault.  I remember around the second Laker's championship was when he decided to quit working out much in the off-season and just try and play his way into shape every year.  Even when he hired that trainer for a summer, it was just for show.  The guy later said Shaq basically did whatever he wanted anyway.

Donald Sterling, is he the GM who missed on Lebron and melo?

I read that the GM before that also missed out on VC, garnett, pierce and etc.

That franchise is a fail. They need fking better scouts lol.
