I am now allowed to go on the elliptical machine!  10min killed me.  Then they made me do squats today on the balance board.  My legs are toast, but as long as the leg keeps getting stronger and stronger I don't mind.

Tomorrow I may just lightly bicycle to move the legs a bit.

^ Great to hear the recovery is coming along Hana.. must be quite tough but you're going in the right direction.

Did another pilates class today... i really do think its been made a little easier because i think there are some people who are complaining that its too hard.. bah pansies!
Legs and inner thighs are so sore.. think it was initially from the boarding and then swim later on at night...Hands are also sore from doing some pull ups and i guess chin-ups on the rings...weird.. don't get that too often. but i don't usually do it on rings either
Got my cervical adjusted too.. damn it kinda hurt today.. it was quite stiff and wouldn't wanna move..Not sure what this feeling is that's coming over me but its dark and I'm not liking it..feeling quite the lazies and don't really wanna hit the gym anymore. I think its partly work.. sucks.
Dunno what tmr will bring.. maybe hit the climbing gym where I haven't gone in some time.

^ taking pilates classes at the gym?

Did an hour of yoga today and then went to the apt gym.  I was on the elliptical for the whole hour for Ultranatural.  Then I did the leg press machine, another leg machine (I dunno what it's called...), calf raises, squats on balance board.  I still need to do one legged squats on my left leg...ugh...and my personal fav...wall sits.  I hate wall sits, but I must.

I noticed I gained about ~5-8lbs Dead  I also need to lose this weight so I'm upping the cardio a bit since I can actually do some cardio without feeling like my leg will fall off.

Yup I'm taking Pilates class at the gym.
Its a good class I really like it, works the stuff I'm wanting to work out. not a class to gain weight I don't think..good for recovery I'd say not too heavy and intense enough. but you can always set your own intensity .

^I wish I can do that, but right now my leg is not 100% (I would say it's prob at 80%)

I took a rest day yesterday and today I'll be going to PT.  It's usually been an hour long session, but recently with the ankle needing some therapy and the new exercises they've put me on I'm there for 1.5hrs.  Feels like I'm getting my money's worth LOL

Today will be yoga and PT Smile

My goal for the weekend was to run 6 miles. It didnt happen. I got 4 miles in Friday night (2.5 on pavement, 1.5 on trail). I found I liked trail running more. Focusing on what was immediately in front of me in an attempt to not roll an ankle took my mind off being so outta shape haha. Did get a fair amount of exercise in over the weekend, but gotta get better about stickin to my goals!

Made it happen today.. got most of the things I wanted to do, done.
Did my second class too and it was packed! I don't know if I'll be able to handle that amount of heat in the summer months. I'm already contemplating of quitting come the warmer days. They might have air con..
time for this so called sleep that has eluded me.

^ Nice!

I went to the gym today and was on the elliptical for 30min.  Worked out my leg some and then finished up with some yoga to stretch out my legs.  My left leg is tight from being immobile for 2 months.  I can feel it whenever I sit cross legged.

Nice lookin kicks :). I picked up a pair of Montrail Trail/hybrid Running shoes to help with the Tough Mudder training.

Generally don't like buying shoes online, but got em from REI on a hell of a discount, and they'll let ya return anything for any reason practically at any time. Figure for 40 bucks, they'll do great to get me prepped for June.

They're a bit flashier than I normally go for. The brand is recommended by podiatrists and they have different shoes for different foot types

New exercises today during physical therapy.  They've now got me doing one legged squats on my bad leg.  Also I'm trying to increase the weight I use to work out my legs.

I also need to stretch out after sitting at a computer for 6hrs straight.  My shoulders have been killing me recently.

Personally, I enjoy using machines because it keeps my form in check and really limits my chances of getting hurt. But yeah, bad wrist = no DLs. Good call.

Yeah it's something different for me, usually the only machine I use is the press then the rest free weights. I enjoy doing more free weight stuff because it crushes the core

I completely agree, free weights really work your core as well as your stabilizing muscles. It also helps to even out the strength in both sides of you body. But yeah, I guess for exercises that you need a spot with and you dont have anyone...machines would be best.

Don't be that guy getting stuck at the bottom doing flat bench...and then having to roll the bar down his chest to sit up hahah. embarrassing.

Had a few winks of sleep last night woke up early to do another class.
Think the instructor went a little easy on us again today..I should not have been able to to survive that class.. but it was good because I was dead tired.. might head to the climbing gym again tonight though.. i dunno we'll see.
Throat is starting to bother my pretty bad again...I should really sleep and rest

It has been two days since I did my ab workout and my abs are still ridiculously sore. Probably going to be sore for another three days. Six pack is about to be coming back.

Haha. Think we've all seen a few of those. I've been doing dumbell presses rather than the bar of late. My friends have been too lazy to hit up the gym with me, so rather than asking for a spotter, I'm able to just drop those fuggers if I can't finish a rep :).
Got my trail-running shoes in the mail today. Was a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting them til Monday. THey are pretty damn comfortable, and seemingly have great support and traction. Though the "griptonite" sole doesn't seem like it would hold up well solely on paved surfaces. Not to worry. I can certainly use my Nikes for street running and switch to the Montrails for the rough terrain. Broke them in today taking my dog for a quick hike. some steep inclines and brushy terrain. Nothing overly intense, but wanted to keep it easy after my blood donation yesterday.

Don't be that guy getting stuck at the bottom doing flat bench...and then having to roll the bar down his chest to sit up hahah. embarrassing.
Haha. Think we've all seen a few of those. I've been doing dumbell presses rather than the bar of late. My friends have been too lazy to hit up the gym with me, so rather than asking for a spotter, I'm able to just drop those fuggers if I can't finish a rep :).Got my trail-running shoes in the mail today.

Free weight dumbell press is a lot better on your shoulders too. The flat bar is straight and when you go down to touch your chest, it puts a lot of pressure on one part of your shoulder. This causes it to get stressed out really easily and injuries occur. I have two friends that messed up their shoulders from bench. A personal trainer explained this to me.

I never use the flat bar anymore because of this, the dumb bells also get a better range of motion I think.

Dumb bells the way to go for dummies
Didn't hit the gym last night, totally passed out waking up so confused. lol the plan is to go today.  Did Abs/arms/ass this morning, still feeling em abs.. might do some more again later at the gym, hopefully i'll get a good climbing session in, no further shoulder injuries.

I agree that flat bar has higher risk of injury...but I didn't take it out of my routine. I just try to do both. I do a little more dumbbell work outs when I have no spot for obvious reasons.

I didn't know flat bench put that kind of stress on your shoulders...if anything I thought it was a good thing? Works out them shoulders.

If it worked out your whole shoulder then it would be a good thing. But since it only puts pressure on one muscle in your shoulder, it gives out pretty easily if you put a lot of pressure on it.

Check out Power Hooks:

You can hang the DB's off an overhead bar and use much heavier DB's.

Idk if I would ever use those because 1. Gyms don't have them and 2. They look kinda dumb. What do you guys think? I have no problem lifting DBs off the floor.

The pink ones are pretty easy to pick up. But all kidding aside, if you are getting close to the weight you would normally press on a bar, it's a job just getting them in position and that effort could go into the press instead. But I wouldn't take them to a busy gym.

I certainly understand its a convenience to not have to hoist them from your lap to your press position. But can generally curl them upright or lay back with them supported without difficulty.  I'm not sure that convenience is worth what they're charging. Especially if you're swapping dumbbell weights between sets.
Did some bball for exercise today. Shot like shit, but got a couple swatted shots, deflected passes and steals. I think i enjoy a good defensive day more than i do a good offensive one.

Went on a 2.5 mile walk yesterday.  My ankle didn't hurt and I didn't feel like I was limping on my bad leg toward the end.  Woke up this morning and my leg feels sore, but not in pain.  I think the ankle is getting better/stronger as well as the knee.

The website looks pretty ghetto.  LOL  But yeah, it does look kind of dumb to bring to the gym and everyone would probably laugh at you too.  LOL
