Well, I have only had 10 days of experience, and I want to stop carving and hit some park maybe??
What should I try out? Last year I hit natural jumps and that was heaps fun (I didnt try much, maybe and indy and thats it, I found landing pretty easy.) Also, I go on my tramp with a 1990's board and practice spins and well, I can pull off a back and front 360, so maybe this will help in the park? TY |

I've heard that the box rail is really fun. Try it out. :)
My sister failed on that so she told me not to be scared and just go for it, but now I'll have to wait until this winter :( |

You should learn the ollie and pop around on little mounds of snow. Front and back 180's on flat and 5050's on short boxes.

start practicing on wider flat boxes at first, just ride onto them first, 5050, to get the feel of being on it and you can try new tricks from there. jumpwise, smaller jumps and try some grabs first. practice spinning of little piles of snow at first and then move onto some real jumps.

learn to ride switch properly, and learn to carve really well,
i know it sounds gay and tedious but you wont progress far in the park if you can not ride switch or do good carves, the reason you need to be able to carve well is for your spins, the spins arent hard, and the thing that makes the spin is the set up turns and windup, these originate from your carves. also practice spins or bumps, rollers, moguls, flat ground and it will help you a lot in park |

I'm sure it does. I don't have first hand experience, but if I had one I would be practicing spins and flips on it.

Flips without the board. Also you can try taping up your edges with painter's tape.

I wouldn't touch the park until I had more basics down. I didn't even ride through there (didn't actually hit any features) until my second season
...instead, get ollies down pat and jump bigger and bigger rollers and/or natural bumps...then move on to 180s (front and backside off these natural jumps)...then you'll be ready for park With only 10 days ridden, stay out of the park because you'll end up an obstacle and will probably get hurt and get someone else hurt |

Thanks heaps, but yeah I can butter and ollie, but just havent tried much else, as always there is room for imporvment in both those though. If i fell confident I will give it a go.
What about halfpipes? How much exp. should i gain before attempting one of those mothers? |

ehh...you can prepare for halfpipes by learning front and backside airs off natural hips.
The thing about halfpipes is size and condition - some of them are intimidatingly super-huge with tons of vert and others are kinked up from lack of maintainance. I avoid both these situations anyway, until you get standard 180 airs down, I don't think you're ready for any park features |

k then if you feel solid on both edges try popping off of rollers and stuff and once your comfortable in the air you can venture into the park.

A good thing to remember when first trying a backside boardslide is to NOT lean back. Keep your hands out in front of you!
And learn to ride goofy! Thats the one thing i cant do and I wish I could. Its really holding me back trick wise. |

Well im in NZ atm, and I was doing some Alley-Oops maybe a bit more then them, I landed them 80% of the time (I did a far amount of them). I have done a few boxes no rails yet, and i can pop off them well but just starting boardslides. First time i tried one i did the thing your not meant to do and leant back, got owned abit but meh. Next time i stared 5050 then sort of turned my shoulders to finish the slide horizontal, and thought big of my self lol. I am feeling more confident and stuff but it will be awesome when i can just go in the park and make everyone else look shit lol.
Yeah, I can ride in and out of switch, just while im in switch I jst cant get from heelside to toeside. The other way round i can but heel to toe i just feel unstable.
Also how much speed should I hit Rails and Boxes with? TY
Lol me too, just today this gumbi skier tried to hit a wide flat box and i think they were still pizza and french frying lol. yes they did get owned. |

thats a difficult question being that it's all on your comfort...you can't go to slow where you don't make it over but not too fast where you dont even notice your on the box...lol obviously right...but ride up and you'll know if you're too fast or slow generally...

honestly for 50-50's on rails i imagine i have a pair of those old school soap shoes on and that im going down the rail with em on...catch my drift...makes me feel like im getting directly centered on the rails...gotta be confident and know you will fall a bunch in the beginning

Went night boarding and limited runs so just hit up some jumps, put in my first grab. It seemed like i held it for ages (was an indy) but im sure it was probs like half a second.
Some big air too, i think out of this trip my confidence on boxes and jumps has gone from like 10 to 40 (out of 50). TY FOR ALL YOUR HELP! |

Wow, when i went to the park, well in NZ anyways it was never busy, just waited for 5 seconds (longest i had to wait) and thats enough time to let me think about what im going to do, but yeah. Night Skiing in NZ was fun cause on the lift i would spot the jumps i would hit and just try do new stuff on the over and over, cheap thrills i guess lol.
