What debate?
Most comments are simply one liners stating they like Burton more. Top 10 snooze threads of all time, which is bold statement because this forum has a lot of them. Whenever I can't sleep I read these forums. |

Either is good. Forum's definitely on the rise in my book because their gear is getting a fresh new look with new tech that is similar to Burton.

Im pretty sure they are the same company because the forum helm ics has an EST bindings system on it... and they both have a burlington vermont address so id say its a safe bet theyre the same.

burton owns forum. forum is made on their own and they have their own people doing it, but they do sometimes trickle tech from one company to another.. that's why forum has had ICS, and burton boots next year are getting what forum called "tweaker" (i think?), for example. they have the same address because all the billing/warranty/account/etc stuff goes through the same place in vermont, but that's it.

Forum & Burton are the same company. My brother works on their product photo shoots, and depending on the weather provide him gear for the shoot (goggles, gloves, boots, jackets, pants, etc) & it's all Forum, Burton, Foursquare, Anon & Special Blend.
I think more important than the brand name of the equipment, is the skill level you're trying to accommodate. If you're a beginner looking at advanced level equipment, you're going to make your learning curve even harder than it already is. I don't know that any 1 brand is necessarily better than another. Burton is a big name, and has lots of $ to throw at marketing & branding their products, but there's plenty of "little guys" out there producing equipment equal to or surpassing Burtons, and they have to produce quality in order to stay afloat in the industry - often at much lower prices because they're not a "Burton" or similar big name |

they're not the same company in terms of their products/etc, but in terms of who's behind it all ($$$), who does warranties/etc, yeah sure they're the same. burton owns them and put them under their umbrella, indirectly (so for example, anon is directly under their umbrella as opposed to indirectly, to give an idea of the difference)

I think it all depends on what to compare)
prices, I guess forum has lower prices, but Burton has bigger variety of everything. Much more gear to chose from. If you want more popular and trendy brand - then chose Burton) But honestly there's no big difference in general, maybe only different technologies used in Snowboard manufacturing. |

hands down one of the most ignorant things people KEEP thinking is true. compare a burton board to a forum board with relatively the same amount of technology. price is gonna be super duper almost the same. compare with pretty much any company for that matter. YOU PAY FOR TECH, NOT PERFORMANCE. for the last time.

its not really the brand that your suppose to make a comparision. its the goods. for example if your comparing board. you can compare the board with same/similar tech and the price difference. you can realyl generalize and say burton> forum or the other way around

I am partial to Burton. I know one significant even was Forum working on the Channel and they didn't put enough money into it and it didn't work out too well. Burton followed by working on the Channel and it has worked well so far. Burton has the money to put into better testing which works towards the customer's interest. A lot of the gear I have is Burton and it's done a great job so far!

C'mon spenser, you know this won't be the last time you say that. And you know people will never stop saying Burton is "wayyy too expensive", it's a generalization less-informed (and not willing to research) people commonly make. You're assuming these people will actually do some work and compare board technology and price across brands when a lot of the herd just wants to be told what to believe.

Not sure why this keeps coming up, but according to Burton's Wiki entry, they bought Forum off of FourSquare back in 2005, which is why it wasn't very surprising when John Jackson left Forum for Burton. Almost as if the Forum team is Burton's "rookie/pro" program.

Like, OMG! Burton is way tooooo expensive.
.... Is this because the big F sells their gear for dirt cheap?? I just don't get this argument, but it's on this site, and out loud all over the country all the time!
