nah, burton just owns "the program," which is forum/special blend/foursquare.  a "burton brand" would one of two things.  anon and red are burton brands, but theyre straight up burton, just with a separate branding for their goggle line and tool/etc line.  and then gravis and analog are burton brands too, but theyre separate, as in.. gravis is not "burton shoes" and analog is not "burton clothing/more outerwear" like anon is "burton goggles," etccccccccc

i dont know how strong the connection between forum and burton is, but they trickled down a lot of burton stuff into forum.  some of the binding tech, some of the board tech under different names, and they totally overhauled forum boots, which are now very much burton-esque.  for boards, who knows, but neither are "better" or "less durable."

I heard forum board's topsheet cracked easily on the '09 boards. I'm sure they solved that problem for the 2010's though.

i dont know about 09, but there was definitely an issue with 07 and 08 topsheets at times.  we carry them, and i saw a handful of them come back to us with weird cracking topsheets that would just splinter up for no reason.  couple destroyers and a seeker i think.. also heard of this happening elsewhere with other people.  it wasnt an impact/rider-caused thing at all, it just happened randomly.

either way, its nothing to worry about.  im sure theyre aware of it and its a warranty-able thing regardless.

well they both are prett similar. The forum manuel and youngblood are good boards but the burton dominant and uninc are3 pretty sick too, it just depends on what your looking for.

Word.  My buddy went through 3 Manuals with this issue.  2 were '08's, 1 was an '09.  Really almost no park riding at all, just happened with normal riding.  He ended up finally switching to a different board (the '09 Eddie Wall) but hasn't gotten to ride it yet.  Hopefully it'll work out a little better for him so he can actually ride with us.

I like both.  Burton is a bit overhyped and heavily leverages their market share, but that's just good business savvy (we're not socialists) and they produce good product.  Forum is a little under the radar but I've liked every board I've tried from them and I'm pretty stoked on their boots (riding Verdicts from last season).  Not so stoked on their bindings, though.

No such thing as better brand i think
its just some of the products they produce are either good or bad.

I overlook brand over product..
instead of looking at gears that certain product make
i just look at certain product.
i dont think i care what brand product they are as long as they are legit and solid.

I feel like some of the Burton tech is released on Forum board to test it out before it's released on the mainstream Burton products.  My examples would be the channel, which was on the 07 Forum Eddie Wall and their higher end boards I believe, can't remember specifically that far back., but it was called the I-Lock.  Also this season the Forum Shaka has the Hinge disc and it is going to be released on next years Burton bindings from what I saw.  Any comments on this?

Firefly all the way! Well, maybe not. I think Burton's lineup is too mind-boggling...every other brand manages to cover all types of riding with a fraction of the boards that Burton offers so there's gotta be some confusing duplication in there.
That said, Burton graphics are usually top-notch and they have a great warranty program.
And even then, among my boards, I own a Forum but not a Burton.

my preference is burton, but comparing two different top of the line brand names is not a way to find "better"

tech is different, boards are different, styles are different. Unless you are searching for a specific item and know exactly what you want (personal preference would make something "better"), all you can compare are differences not advantages

Burton ! Best snowboards, even way back when i was using there rentals those things were in good shape and preformed like a mid-range board. I asked the tech at the rental shop and he's said these boards rarely need servicing.

i have a 07 forum recon. min is fine i havent pressed it super hard or anything but everythign seems to be fine on it

either one will be fine

its like saying should i buy ferrari or porsche

both are great brands but it depends what you actaully want to do which will dicatate what board you should buy

decide what you want to ride be it park or back country or free ride ect and select a board thats goin to suit that. dont buy something because of the brand buy it for the item.

and if shit does break you just take it back and they claim it under warranty or if your in Australia just preach the TPA (Trade Practices Act)
