is burton actually better, or is it just the name that makes it dominate over everyone else.

forum still does their own thing, theyre just under burtons umbrella now, and some of the tech has trickled over, like boots and things.

If only choice one from Forum and Butron, I will take Burton.
It doesn't mean Burton is good, just because forum is under burtons umbrella.
So Burton will not let Forum's product better than itshelf.
I have both Forum and Burton boots, Burton really have better quality, but Forum with better price...

so you bought cheaper forum boots and say the more expensive burtons are higher quality. no shi t.
and no, thats not how it works. when you buy a forum board, the money ultimately goes to burton. burton owns it all. they dont make forums lower quality just because they want the brand of burton to have "better" products.. that wouldnt help them financially, since they still ultimately get the money from forum boards.
and again, forum still does its own thing. they design the boards, have their own technologies, so on and so forth.

Ive noticed most forum boards are more made for street kinda settings, or park, while Burton focus's more on the whole mountain, i dont care what board i ride, as long as it gets you to the bottom of the run its al god

They are similar in that they are both owned by burton. Naturally as a snowboarder I really do not like burton, so I don't buy product from either company. I can't speak for quality because I do not own either companies stuff, Forum has a sick team though and this years Forum video "forever" was sick.

i dont know about 09, but there was definitely an issue with 07 and 08 topsheets at times. we carry them, and i saw a handful of them come back to us with weird cracking topsheets that would just splinter up for no reason. couple destroyers and a seeker i think.. also heard of this happening elsewhere with other people. it wasnt an impact/rider-caused thing at all, it just happened randomly.
either way, its nothing to worry about. im sure theyre aware of it and its a warranty-able thing regardless. |
Kinda funny, my brothers '10 Bullet did the same thing after 3 days riding on green groomers with no impacts. There were 4-5 spots that had splinters where the top sheet meets the edge of the board.
Not really a big deal, he rode it for a week in Co. and it didn't get worse. Now that the season is over I think he's gonna try to warranty it.

even though forum is owned by burton they are not manufactured together. I personally prefer forum because i think they are more durable snowboards and made with better quality. Burton makes decent boots and pretty good bindings also

Someone in a shop told me that forum was owned by burton, but it not like burton makes all the gear, decisions, and tech for forum, even though burton makes the profits... he said "its more like forum gets their own materials and make their own stuff, but have dad's wallet to do so." Forum and burton are different companies with different tech. If they had the same tech, why wouldnt burton have removed forum by now.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
You can get a great board with any company. Every company has their own tech and designs, and when coming down to a specific riding style and preference, thats what makes one board better for one person, and worse for another. Everyone is different, and their are no bests. Otherwise, most of us would all be using the same thing.
I used to dislike burton. The only reason why Burton is my preference is because I was thrilled with the second burton deck I ever used (2008 supermodel) so much that i now have four burton decks now. After using the CX, i may never go back, but my point is that just because you hear certain things or have certain feelings about a company, doesnt mean that you will feel that way after using their products. Threads like this will give you no answers, only a wide variety of mixed opinion. In the end, you might not have a clue what to get because of all the different answers.
Your best bet is to find a local demo, and try as many products as possible, or even demo at a rental shop. If you demo, your not getting the lowest end products (ive seen vapors available for demo). Other than that, you ask questions on what would be good choices based on riding style, ability, etc... The only person who can find the best thing for you is you. Just make sure you dont let other opinions influence you into making a bad choice.

they are the same thing i thought. Most likley made in different places but im sure some if not all of burtons tech has made its way over to forum. Have you guys seen the forum with the channel system? I have only ridden burton so i cant really say which i like better.

Most repetitive thread ever.
"Hey man, does Burton own Forum?" x 20
"Yo, Burton owns Forum!" x 20
"I used to think Burton owned Forum!" x 20 (this is my fav because it implies they came into new knowledge which indicates that Burton doesn't)

COnsidering how Burton is the most popular brand in snowboarding, ill say burton is the "better" brand. They are popular for a reason. THeir quality over the year has gone down, so you should always give other smaller company a try.
