Topic: which is better, forum or burton Posted: Aug/18/2010 at 3:29pm |
every brand has $500+ boards.
the thing that is different about mervin (lib/gnu) is that they dont have many cheaper ones. they dont really make cheap boards. not because they cant, but because thats just not their market. they make quality hand-built snowboards in washington and thats how its been for 25 or so years.

I don't think they will have one until the end of season again. A majority of last season are gone and only unwanted sizes are available.

^^^ that's not necessarily true. They can do whatever they want with their colab pricing. They might put a few older items on crazy sale during cyber monday. But in general, an all out 70% off sale on everything is very unlikely unless they really do go out of business.

I'm riding a flow, and my first board was a K2! A lot of my friends had burtons and some brands I have never heard of before. It really comes down to just testing the boards out for yourself. I'm sure you could find a place where you could demo boards.

That decision is easy, it's definitely ROME SDS! Also, I noticed a few people have spelled definitely wrong as "definately", even though the forum puts red lines under misspelled words. Impressive...

I'll vote for Forum because that's what I had when I first started riding. My mom worked for them when they were still a part of Fourstar Distribution. Let me tell you I was heartbroken to hear that they were selling Forum, Foursquare, and Special Blend.
Other than the nostalgia factor, I don't think either company has an edge.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Sims started it, but Burton popularized it.

funny thing is, a lot of the stuff burton comes out with is a year or two or more late compared to when other companies release eerily similar technologies.

I think you should be comparing product to product and not brand to brand. Every brand will have a variety of boards across diff price rannges.

yea. my 09 scheme has cracked on the tail in two spots. One of them cracked 2 inches deep and the other one about half a inch. Its all cosmetic though, no real damage to the board and it still rides like a charm.
