Back from my 3 week trip to South Korea and Japan!  Good thing we left Korea right before the MERS outbreak.  LOL  Congrats to everyone who graduated from school!

We've had a few strong thunderstorms this past week. Lights went out a few times too. At least the power didn't go out for extended times.

I went to both Park City and Canyon EARLY last season (right after Thanksgiving) so the terrain that was open was extremely limited. I don't remember any advanced runs open at that time. But, even the blue runs that were open were worth it for me. I would love to go back when there's more coverage. But it's hard getting in on timeshare during holidays...and that's the only time we can go because of kids' school schedule.

Did it have some advanced terrain?  I have heard that both are pretty mellow compared to Snow Bird...

^ Yes, the Park City deal will definitely be worth it.  I liked both Park City and Canyons in fair snow conditions, can only imagine how much better both would be in better snow conditions.  Going back next season to find out for myself.

I spent two days at the Snowbird in "average" conditions and it was sweet.  You like the PC deal?  If it is really good I might just buy the full blown epic pass that gets me unlimited tickets instead of the 5 free tickets to the out of state resorts.  I went to Copper last year and get hit with a good storm and it was awesome so I know i want to use at least 5 days at the Colorado epic resorts next year...

VTBear- I'm so sorry. Many of my friends have 1-2 children aged infant to 6. They ALL look tired as all heck. I hear naps help a lot, if you can take them. Anyways, you have my sympathy.

I woke up late and forgot to pack a lunch. At first I was upset, but then I figured it would be a great opportunity to try the BBQ next door. Maybe a tri-tip sandwich today or some chicken. This has been my random morning. Also, I saw a wild turkey and bobcat/lynx at the outdoor archery range in south San Jose this past weekend. Both were incredibly beautiful. I wanted to take a picture, but we just stood there watching. It was really amazing. I think the deer, turkey, and other critters know that no hunting is allowed on the range property. They'll straight up walk in between you and the targets. Honey deer/bobcat don't give a what.

Thrive has a good coaching series and section, (youtube and their website).  I just don't see much activity on forums anymore.  Most of the ones I post on have about 10 dedicated members and not much other than that.

I try to be on the live chat during the northern hemisphere winter to help when I can but the forums are hard to keep up with.  TS has the email reminders that go out so it helps, but the forums aren't really maintained by anyone so it's hard to work it out.  Easy to reminisce about the good ol days, but that's was 6-7 years ago now it seems.  Damn i am getting old.

For the Randomness: Now I want to spend more time filming stuff than actually doing it.  Picking up a bridge camera later this summer (Sony RX10-II) to go with my Sony ActionCam.  Will be doing 4K video next winter all around hopefully.  But still need to get a lot better at the video editing.  It's definitely an art form.

Anyone going to watch the TGR/Anthill Film - UnReal?  Looks damn good...

I think Lightning said that Thrive is quiet too. I guess we gotta wait till winter.
We used to have a nice fishing thread, where Spenser (once again) filled it with great pics and stories.

Most people who post at Thrive also post here.  Though at least at Thrive you can get feedback from the company.  Here it is becoming borderline impossible.  Again, hopefully that changes before winter.

Uploading photos to your avatar has really worked well in a year or two.  Not certain what happened but I don't know of a work around.  I just have never changed mine.  Though I haven't put much effort in to it either.

I'm assuming most of the people that were driving SS are now over at Thrive snowboarding??

Also I have a random question.  I currently can't upload any photos to set a new profile picture.  Is there any sort of work around to get a photo uploaded so that I can have a customized avatar?

Yeah, there were a lot of staff posting here. Not so much now.

I would like to retire with a small home near the beach, where I can go fishing every day if I like. Or somewhere there is a casino close by, so I can play poker frequently. I used to want to retire near a ski resort, but don't know how long I would be riding when I get older.

^ I will never be bored in retirement, plenty of things to do, places to go.  My plan is to retire at 50 (socking away a lot of money into my retirement account including most of my quarterly bonuses) and enjoy the rest of my life and not worry about money.

which is why you go and find new hobbies. maybe gardening, volunteering at a ymca, painting, etc.

You just have to retire early enough to do certain things. There's more to life than just working.

Damn I wish I had so much time that I didn't know what to do with it. Sadly at my age I know exactly what I would do if I had shit tons of time. Fishing, golf, reading, catching up on movies, catching up on tv shows, try out some of the newer RPG games, finish some work around the house, rebuild my computer, finally install my SSD on the laptop, clean out the crap lying in all my drawers around the home, travel within the US, travel out of the country, go to Korea and visit all the surrounding countries (except N. Korea of course), and of course get some sleep.

If you get the Epic Pass, then you can go to CO and Tahoe, in addition to PCMR/Canyons (are they still called separately now that they'll be connected?) without having to pay for additional day passes.

True which is why I am considering making the switch from my usual preference of Brighton/ Snowbird and probably switching to the epic pass.  500 bucks for full access to PC and Canyons(which is now PC no more canyons I believe)  Such a good deal.  Makes planning a trip Colorado or Tahoe very tempting.  Also we just signed up for a southwest visa card.  They were doing a promotion when we signed up that gave us 50,000 free points. A round trip flight is usually around 15,000 points.  Free flights and free lift tickets using epic pass..  I'm feeling pretty good about it.  Now time to convince the wife.

Definitely not backcountry for me. My experience was just going off the trail and into the woods or thru the bush and off some boulders.
