haha, nice!

i was scared shizless of the farris wheel as a little kid.  Not even  kidding.  i went on things like the tilta-whirl, the scrambler, the octopus, even the super loops before a farris wheel.

I feel your son's pain.

I hate the spinning rides...they make me dizzy. But I have no problems with all the twisting, falling, and zero-g from the roller coasters...

^ hahaha..unfortunately, no. we like to do things as a family. But, my wife did take my daughter (who is younger) on kiddie rides while I took my son on some rides that he could ride on, but my daughter could not ride on. So, we went and got totally soaked on a couple of water rides, then rode a wooden roller coaster, then a smaller scale steel roller coaster. Then we met up again with my wife and daughter and went on some kiddie rides together. Before we left, my daughter played in the play structure, and I took my son to ride on the Boomerang. This was the scariest one for him, because he doesn't like going backwards, and doesn't like to go upside down. But he did it, without crying, peeing in his pants, or throwing up. We'll have to work on rides with dangling feet next....

Exactly, he's putting getting lucky ahead of his future.  An internship here can lead to employment, we convert several interns to employees at the end of the summer.  And it's a great place to start a career - strong benefits, generous PTO, internal mobility.  He needs to start thinking with his big brain and let his little brain do the thinking after work hours.  I'm just glad he was not assigned to my team, I have little patience for a jackass like that.

Let him learn the hard way and regret his mistakes in the future.  LOL

I just drink a big cup of coffee every day...

I gave the Chinese homestay boys a little lecture this morning because they speak Chinese all day and play on their phones whenever they're with other people who are speaking English. They're supposed to be learning English and experiencing American culture, and I'm sure their parents paid good money for them to be in the program. But, they're not doing anything to help themselves improve their English. They can speak Chinese all day in China, and they can play on their phones in China. They don't need to come all the way here to do that. They'e supposed to learn English, not do what they can do in China, in Chinese...Confused We'll see if they make any changes today...

That's cool that you had someone to  babble in a foreign language with even if you both were speaking random crap.  LOL

^ Yeah, it's an immersion thing. Most host families are non-Chinese speaking. We just happen to be able to speak and understand. So, to be fair, and for them to get the full "American" experience, we're not supposed to converse in Chinese.

I mean, if you paid money to be an exchange student in Russia, so you can be immersed in the Russian culture/language..and you stay in a family that speaks English...it's not much of an experience...compared to your friends who stayed at a Russian family.

Are you not supposed to speak in Chinese to them?  Is it kind of an immersion thing for them that way?  I think it would be cool to be able to speak to them in their native tongue.

Cuz they're creatures we don't know about. And to see what they're capable of is mind boggling.
some of the stuff on there really does blow my mind. Just watched an episode about these freshwater eels that spin when they bit their prey. It was crazy...and they are HUGE.
