Had a great day today at Blue Mountain, 10 hours of riding. I think it's safe to say that I've fully worked in my Artifact Rocker and have now developed a liking for it. The stuff it can do on flat ground is absurd.

That's awesome! For the longest time I didn't even think something like this would be possible to own but it seems like it's homemade. Is it affordable? How long does it take to make 1 foot of packed snow with good weather? |

With my setup and space it takes about 40 hours to get a really good base down. I've got about a foot in most places now and a couple piles that are about three feet deep. Water bill is usually triple what it normally is, electric is like having an a/c running basically.
It's all homemade, so it's cheaper than buying pre-fab stuff from jibs for cribs or other sources. The hdpe for the boxes (one is 10' the other is 14') was about $120 (I should have got the 1/4", but it would have been about double), the wall material was $25, the lumber for the boxes and wall was 100ish (maybe a little more), can't remember the cost of the drops (but it wasn't too bad), snowgun setup was a little over $400 (that's the gun, compressor, pressure washer, and hoses). I'm sure I've put over a grand into the yard, but it's been worth it. 4 seasons so far back there averages out to 250 a year which is about half the price of a season pass around here. No gas, no crowds, it's nice.
I didn't think it was possible at first either, then I started throwing it together, found out I could make my own snow (since it never freakin' snows around here) and things just came together.
My homie Jon at parx does home setups for people and has a really good all season product. Not sure of his prices, but it's a nice system he's got. Check him out at parkbyjont.com.

Awww, thanks Von. I really have put a lot of time into it. My buddy has some time in too as he helped me build and brain storms with me about ideas for it. I know a lot of people out there have some badass setups (as I saw last year in the Rome betta jibba contest), but I don't think we did too bad for being broke asses and having limited space. @jhoang- I'll get some vids up there sometime soon. We haven't done any filming yet this season, but we will be soon. We don't have any footage with the new setup, but here's some of the old configuration. this was my entry into the Rome contest last year- www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj8MtkzxUs4
Here's my fav move I've done on the wall/shed- www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VIJnuye3y8

Yeah, I'm on an HP, but it's still fun. You can't tilt your computer, but when you type something in the search field and hit enter, your results fall from the top of the screen. I highly urge everyone to type in "boobies" and have fun Wish the image search worked though |

Right? It's pretty fun though to just keep putting search results in over and over and watching things piled up. Although, I bet it's more fun when you can tilt to get things out of the way. On my HP, I max out at 4 search results before nothing happens. Man, the shit you will sit around and do when you are bored.... |

I actually quite like the colour! It's more like magenta than neon pink, but Volcom calls it aster. I just didn't expect it to draw so many curious looks of gender-differentiation . Even in the lift lines, people will just stare at me until I talk to give away my sex. Quite awkward...
Dude you gotta let me know when you're shredding again. Any Toronto riders here feeling a Sunday session at Blue Mountain?

LOL that's creepertastic.
Just load up on the vitamins and caffeine! And the demo day might allow ya to try something new! Do you know which manufacturer(s) are gonna be there? If nothing else... just mob over to Snowj's place and just use his back yard ;) |
