As far as the movie discussion goes, I'm hoping to catch Django Unchained sometime this week. The lady is not terribly keen to uber-gory movies, but from what i've heard, its kinda satiric and overly-done in a Kill Bill (times 5) kinda style. Hopefully she'll wanna see it with me. She wants to see Looper; so I might just make a deal with her and pay for her Django ticket if she pays for my Looper one. B-)

A buddy and I saw Django a couple weeks ago.  I really liked it.  Honestly, i'm not sure why it's being deemed as so "controversial."  I thought it was way less graphic than some of his other movies (like the cop torchure scene in Resevoir Dogs etc).

When they first rode into the Texas town (not a spoiler, it happens in the first 20 or so minutes of the movie), and the citizens are "less than enjoying" Django's enterance; my buddy announced in his big voice... "to be fair, that's what Texas is like still."  I laughed so hard. LOL

Im going to see this on saturday! and if i remember correctly, it was controversial because it came out around the time of the shooting in connecticut. the premier was even delayed a few days or something.

even if the shit came out the day after the shooting people need to stop being so sensitive. they need to realize it is a movie for ENTERTAINMENT and nothing more. seeing Django isnt going to make people go on a killing spree or anything like that.

He never said he's on Win7! What if he's on XP.. or vista! Hmm?! hmm?! Nevertheless, if you ARE on win7, It'll be perfectly sufficient for anything you need for some time. While I've heard some pretty good things about 8, I'd suggest you'd likely be better served usin that $100+ for another boarding trip. Midget is certainly right in that generally Windows puts out a crap release in between good ones. So maybe if ya wait a while and people don't deem it terribly buggy, you won't have wasted your money if it turns otu to be crap.

Midget might have gathered that info from the Thrive chat...I am on Win7. The price of the an upgrade to Win8 is about $40 right now, that's why I'm considering it. My laptop has a touchscreen and can swivel to become a tablet, and it seems that Win8's interface is designed for touchscreens. Win7 is really not that touchscreen-friendly and feels slow to react to the screen touches. If Win8 is going to make it feel faster..and not buggy, I might get the upgrade.

Anybody that's used Win8 and like it/hate it?

I've used 8 since August. Hated it the first couple of months but it is what it is. i have to use it to support end users. You'll learn to ignore dumb features and it's made mainly for touch input devices. So i wouldn't buy it unless it's dirt cheap or you can try the preview version (trial) and see how you like it. Windows 8 makes it easy to revert back to Win 7 anytime.

We had a trainer ride after we closed the shop today. Trainers are those things that you clamp onto the rear wheel of a bicycle so you can ride indoors BTW, but yeah, sore as shit! Can't believe how out of shape I get when I don't really log any serious miles for 3 weeks. I mean, I ride to work most days, but I only live a mile from my shop. Got in 14.8 miles in an hour today and feel pretty decent. Good starting point.

I decided halfway through my double that I was going to ride, so only had some jeans, wool socks and t-shirt. Sweated my ASS off LOL. Really dumb to ride a trainer with jeans...learned my lesson on that one. Think I pushed myself a bit too much though. We had a few kids from the OSU team riding with us tonight, and for some reason I felt like I needed to keep up with their intervals. Only lasted through 2 of them before I gave up.
Christ I feel fat and old haha.

I heard that there are no improvements unless you like the new tablet chiclet view or have a touch tablet. You can turn off those settings if you want though.

True, Win8 was made for touch screens, and actually works pretty seamlessly with the new live tiles. I like it so far. (Well, to be fair I'm technically using Windows RT on my MS Surface; but from what I've seen Win RT is VERY similar to Win8.)

Plus, for those that don't like the live tile mode, you do have the option of always working in the traditional desktop view screen. I would say the $40 upgrade is worth it, esp since you have a touch screen laptop. And on the point that every other version of Windows is worthwhile, I'd have to disagree with that opinion this time around.

Were they in your office, or outside before you wrote this? :D

A whole herd passed by outside.  LOL
A herd o' hookers out front? Angry, the way you describe your workplace makes it sound like you work in a house of ill repute.

Internet and cable was out all day yesterday and this morning.  It was terrible lol.  I hope that never happens again.

And no, it wasn't because the bill didn't get paid haha.  They had to fix or upgrade something I guess.  Now the TV picture is crystal clear at least.
