I get to work at 0400 and I see a note on my desk. It read: you will have a very boring morning, nothing is going out. Sorry! See you at 1400. In my mind, I'm thinking if I would have known I would have come in at 0700.

Word Happy Vday to everyone.

On another note, did anyone read the article about Kanye and Kardashion getting walked through at the airport w/o having to be screened by TSA??

http://omg.yahoo.com/news/west-kardashian-security-screening-flap-jfk-reports-033338531--spt.html

This kind of crap pisses me off. What makes they so special that they get to skip security checks??? Seriously, celebrities are nothing special and I don't care who you are. Unless you're an important member of government, no special treatment for you! haha

Ahhh yes, Valentine's Day.  The day to spend exorbitant dollars on your loved one to show how much you care, because just saying so doesn't count today.  So, warm up your credit cards, buy overpriced flowers, candy and jewlery, take your loved one to a crowded overpriced restaurant full of amateur diners (you know, the people that only go out to eat once or twice a year) and enjoy your evening!

With much love and affection,

Are you a professional diner? How do you get to be in that club? And why are you so concerned with other people on V-Day? Focus more on your date!

omg! valentines day is another one of hallmarks big pay days. me and the ole lady do our usual thing on days like this. no real reason to spend money. we like to do things on non prescribed days and make things an actual surprise. we get each other things all the time, so we dont need to HAVE to do someting today.

Well, Rob, since you've asked please allow me the proper time and thought needed to answer your question.... yes, I am a professional diner.  It's an exclusive club and if you have to ask how to get in you do not qualify.

I am not concerned about other people, V-Day is known in the restaurant industry as amateur night along with New Year's Eve which is why I prefer preparing a fine meal at home for my girlfriend.  I get to show off my culinary skills and enjoy a great meal with my girlfriend without having the annoying amateurs ("I'll have a bottle of your finest White Zinfandel..." says it all) seated nearby.

Thanks for your heartfelt concern.

XOXOXOXO,

If you are in the industry, then OK I'll accept the claim that you are a professional diner, though I've never seen your club card. What's wrong with white zi... oh hell I can't even bring myself to finish that question

Carry on, indeed.   1 million s and s for you today sir!

What are other people doing for V-Day tonight?

Wifey and I are hosting a double date taco night at our place. I just bought her flowers and a card, and then tomorrow night we've got a hotel room all to ourselves. Super cheap local discount rate too!

^ Sounds like you have an excellent evening planned, double date taco night is Thumbs Up.  Who doesn't enjoy a good homemade taco?  As far as I know only communists hate tacos.

And you're extending V-Day to tomorrow evening, too, excellent!  Enjoy!

BTW, have you ever had a good bottle of red zinfandel?  Red and white zin shouldn't even share the zinfandel name.  A good red zin is deep red, hint of fruit and a bit spicy.  And you don't have to break the bank to get a good bottle.

Oh dude I used to live in Sonoma County CA so I am a bit of a self-described wine snob. The Zin from Lodi, CA is my fave, especially 7 Deadly Zins.

Ahhh OK, let's get a wine thread going boys.  Frankly, if you're going to pair wine with tacos tonight, I don't think white zin is that bad of a choice.  And sutter home is an excellent price point these days

^^ 7 Deadly isn't bad at all.  I tried that at a tasting around halloween.
I used to never like Cali wines, but lately, the powerful cabs from Napa and Sonoma are my favs.  must be good vintage, eh?

I have had 7 Deadly Zins and concur.

I've discussed taking a vacation to Sonoma with my girlfriend, isn't there a wine train?

Last night we split a heart shaped pizza- take n bake. Cost a whopping $7.00, but I also got some cookie dough. I think that was $3.00. That's why the wife loves me- big pimpin spending G's- very slowly.

I had a similar story two days ago. Except for the drinking, I dont drink. I woke up looked at the time, fell back asleep and then woke up at 10:45, work starts at 9am. I quickly jumped on the computer and emailed everyone that I am sick and will not be at work. Close call.

I had to use the multiple alarm trick when I was younger.  Heck, I even had to use it not too long ago when I had a flight in the morning and was only able to get about 3 hours sleep.

When I was younger I had one alarm clock that I had near my bed.  And I had another alarm on the other side of the room, up on top of a cabinet, so I would have to get up and out of bed to shut off the second one.   Always worked out well....besides being dead tired.

Nowadays I just set my alarm clock. And also my cell alarm if I need to be up for something important.

Surprisingly not too sore after a day of riding. Guess the squats with the gf on my back helped.
