This is my dog Oliver.  He's old, has terminal cancer, arthritic legs, and sporadic dementia.

Still the best dog ever.

Dogs are the best, this reminds me of this one picture that went viral of a guy with his super old dog that has arthritis and so to help soothe his dog and put her to sleep, he carries her and wads around in the lake.  He was about to put her down but thanks to that picture, he received a bunch of donations so he can continue with her arthritis treatments.

He received so many donations he started a foundations or something where he said they can treat up to 40-60 more dogs with similar arthritis issues(somewhere in that range). So good for him, for not using the money on random crap like most people would.

His dog is 19 years old...that is one old hound.
This was the picture

(Not my dog for people who don't actually read posts, my pooch is up top)

^ That dog is 19 years old and suffers from arthritis.  When the guy takes the dog into Lake Superior it helps soothe the dog's arthritis and he's able to sleep through the night.  The donations are paying for the dog's laser arthritis treatment and he received so many donations he created a fund to help other dogs.  The photo and story is touching.

Here's my dog Cooper:

I don't think I've ever heard of that breed before, red heeler, but it looks like he's having a blast living in AK since he's suited up for everything.  LOL

Queensland heeler?  My wife had a heeler when she and her bro were kids, Abby was a legendary dog.  Apparently could climb trees and was generally all-around awesome

P.S.  This is one of my favorite threads.  I love dogs.  So here's a picture of my monster trying to catch a frisbee

damn, I've been away for a while and haven't posted a ton of stuff.  well... trying to keep this short... my girlfriend and I had been talking about a dog for a while.  we've both always been animal/dog people, but it's a passion of hers, and has been for her whole life.  she's been a vet tech for almost 5 years now.  she has wanted her very own dog for some time... I have always wanted my own too, but wasn't ready at the time.  anyway, after a couple months of talking, I came around and decided I was ready.  she was going to NAU in flagstaff still, so we were talking about adopting a dog this spring when she finished her year.  I was going to road trip down, and then we'd all come back up together.  we had looked at a couple dogs from Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue, but things didn't work out with any of them, on the rescue's end (a bunch of nonsense, but oh well).  longer story short, her roomie took her to the shelter the next morning after the final rescue dog didn't work out and she was upset and discouraged, and things lined up.  so... we ended up with a puppy!  we weren't shooting for a pup at first, especially me, but after talking it out, we agreed and decided to go for it... about a month and a half later, I am so glad we did.  so... meet Harbor! we got her at 5-6 weeks (a little early, typically) and she's a joy.  we think she's an aussie shepherd/heeler mix, but not sure yet.  could have collie or catahoula in her, among who knows what else.  she has been potty trained for a couple weeks now, knows sit, come, and other basics, and is showing to be a very intelligent little turd, as well as simply being so well mannered, especially for a pup. couldn't be more stoked.

I could post a ton of earlier photos (and probably will later) but I was just posting these from this morning so I will start there.  she is about the cutest damn puppy I've ever seen, especially when she was really little.

took harbor and phantom out to eagle beach this morning.  Juneau has been exceptionally foggy this week, but it's created some pretty sweet scenery/light that we don't always get. sorry for all the pictures.... I'm trying to remember that most people are looking at the internet through smartphones these days

Sweet story Spenser!  If that pup is yours then who's the big one?  They look very much alike.  The pup's eyes look pretty crazy especially the left eye.

That is quite the underbite.  Snaggletooth, that's cute.

That's pretty awesome to be able to go basejumping with your dog.  I bet the first time was probably a mess.  LOL

no one is posting any non-canine photos?

i am still sad losing my tank of gold fishes to parasites...
it's almost been a year, but I am reluctant to get new pets.
It can get depressing...

but it's certainly nice to see the pets of this community

^ my girlfriend's family is loaded with animals, we just don't take the birds and snakes out to play haha.  cockatiel, african grey, and macaw, probably 60 green tree pythons (dad's a breeder), two fancy chihuahuas, turtle...

anyway, more eagle beach this morning

few more recent ones

new custom collar from a friend

walking on the glacier lake

hiked out to the ice caves under the glacier with the pup a couple days ago.  this dog is lovin' life.  I hadn't been there in years, so that was cool.  the caves are always changing since the glacier is receding so quickly, but there's a pretty big open one right now.

took her up the john muir cabin trail yesterday

and her puppy teeth started falling out not long ago... the two fronts were the first to go and first to come back in, and she's been rocking little buck teeth all week haha

the two swimming pictures are from a few days ago... she is starting to see that it's okay, but is still reluctant to go far out enough to float.  seems to like it when she does end up swimming though, and she had the motions down right off the bat which is sweet.  after those two photos, they're  from yesterday at eagle beach again with phantom.

We put Spanky down a little over a month ago, he was just in too much pain. these pictures are breaking my heart.

Here's one of my favorite pics of the old guy. probably shared it before but oh well.
he was a little dirty and ragged here...
he was a goofball
another favorite
oh, and heres my fat cat... he's a little prick... likes to attack people for no reason.

It comes and it goes, get it while it lasts.

some of them were from a canon point and shoot (SD260?) and the others were from my canon 30D with a 70-200 L series lens.  the point and shoot has a big zoom too, so some of the photos with the background pulled way in (the pooping one for example) are from that.  the point and shoot comes out a little more digital looking, while the 30D looks closer to film because it's an actual SLR.
