Hello,
i'm new to this forum. i wanted to ask you guys some questions about the rocker board. i used to ride rome artifact 153cm and recently got a rome artifact 1985 153cm. i noticed ALOT of people downsize from their original size because they want more stability and control when they do tricks and other stuff. i didn't downsize because i also wanted to jump alot too... i haven't tried this board yet but am i screwed? or will i be able to handle it? i consider myself as a above average riders. i can carve, jump, and do boxes... please let me know. depending on your recommendations, i might change my ROCKER board size. thanks! |

youll be fine.
size rocker boards the same as a normal board. if you ride a smaller board for park/rail stuff, just do that. rocker is a different style of board, but it doesnt warran downsizing. if you break it down, it doesnt make sense. and why WOULDNT you be able to handle the new board in its rockered version? i cant think of a reason... plus, rocker is easier to control, if anything... so if anything, sizing down would do the opposite by making it even smaller and looser and easier. |

Hello there UCI and welcome to the forums!
While some people downsize for the rockered boards, its mostly preference and certainly not a universal rule. Riding your same size as normal is perfectly fine in my opinion. Sizing down does not ensure stability or control either, thats gonna be on the rider. Personally, i don't like the idea of sizing down on rockered boards, bc you already lose enough effective edge as is. I would say keep your size as you have it. |

I have also heard a number of people saying that if a board is rockered that it should be sized down.
I also think this is not true. A number of the rocker boards have a blunt nose and tail, so therefore a longer effective edge for its length. This is the main reason that a rocker board would be sized down. It is the exactly same for a camber board; longer effective edge = size down. The rocker is going to allow he board to be loose so the longer size will not be harder to turn. The shorter size board will not float as well in the fresh snow, but will be easier to maneuver around boxes and rails.
