really enjoyed park city resort and the canyons. the canyons is massive and park city has some steep terrain. when i went, it just dumped and the resorts re-opened after being closed for 2 days. had all that fresh powder, was excellent. restaurants in park city were a bit overpriced but the food was well worth it. the bars ("clubs" - you have to sign in) werent bad but we didn't find any really happening nightlife, just some apres ski at the base of the mountains.

check out snowbird, brighton, the canyons or park city.
I like snowbird myself. Park city is to commercialized for my taste. If you are staying in SLC, there are plenty of bars and restaurants downtown to pick. |

It is. He's posting in Ski Discussion so he must be a skiier. Deer Valley is ski only too. I've skiied Deer Valley once and had a blast. Rich people kinda place wearing one piece ski outfits, etc. I felt awkward wearing baggy pants and big jacket. Anyway, after lunch, trails are empty. Apparently, the rich are pretty much done after lunch since its tea time... ![]() |

Snowbird is a gnarly -"i could break myself off on this next run" kinda place...LOVED IT... lots of steep terrain that's heaven on a pow day.
Brighton is also super fun and with some fun terrain and a great park.. Park city ==== CROWDED... |

I snowboard Utah 2-3 times a year. I didn't like park city, it was a sweet mt but you too many people, I hate using 1/4 of my ski time waiting in lift lines.
I really liked snowbird and snowbasin but I liked snowbird better. I went to brighton and it was the worse conditions for snowboard (freezing raining and preseason) but i still had a good time and they had some sweet stuff and looks like a great place to ski and the local i was with loved it. |

Favorite mountains near SLC are Powder Mountain and Snow Basin. The rest of them don't even come close. Brighton might be a distant third. Snowbird and Solitude near the bottom for me.

Heading to Utah for 5 days end of February and have a couple questions.
1.) Hotel in Midvale of SLC? I think we're going to ride Snowbasin and Brighton mostly and would like to stay near some sort of nightlife and has some public transportation to the mountains. 2.) Can someone point to me a website where I ca look up info on these ski shuttles that everyone talks about. |

Anyone board at Brian Head? Will be going there from Vegas. Any other places to board in Utah that are close to Vegas?

I say ditto to kevandju's questions.
I've heard the best things about Brighton and Snowbasin so I'm considering those. I'm also looking for some decent night life where is the best area to stay in if I need to bus to the resorts? Which resort has the best lodge/dining/nightlife if you stay on location? |

Just got back from SLC, and WOW! The locals say that this year was the worst season they had in 20years, and my friends and I thought it was awesome, imagine SLC on a good year! Anyway, we stayed at the bottom of The Canyons in a condo, Skied their once, and hopped on the Free bus at the 711 to Park city, and skied their twice. Went to the top of Pioneer lift and hiked a ways up to get some fresh pow that had dropped the night before! The Skiing was epic! Ate at some Mexican place off main street, and the steak fajitas were pretty good, and we tried to make a reservation for Zooms on Main St. but they were to full. So we went to 350 Main, and it was overpriced and not very tasty. But i am from the metropolitan area so we are food spoiled, i don't mind paying for good food, but when its shitty and expensive it sux. Cost me $150 with tip for me and my gf. After dinner we went to Wasatch which is a pub and brewery which i highly recommend. We then stumbled down Main St. to some bar where they had live hip hop. First time i ever seen this, but drinks were cheap, $3 PBR 24oz and $3 Red bull and Vodka, i had a Dewars on the rocks only $5! After this place grew old we bar hopped to Flanagan's Irish pub and had ourselves car bombs and more $3PBR! Where they also had a pool table and a live band playing Irish cover songs, people were going crazy dancing/drinking! Utah might have been my fav. vacation yet! Thanks UT for the smile you smacked on my face till i landed in NYC
