No backpack full of Jack Links but he was wearing an Ohio Against the World hoodie (in Detroit Metro Airport... lol...), along with a Red Bull beanie.  I saw him form a distance and wasn't sure it was him until I read the hoodie.  He's a chill dude.

Haha I hope so too!
My buddy in CO used to feel this way about me going out there to ride with him.  The elevation and the length of the runs would just wear me out.  ESP the 1st days in the mts.  It was like day 1 all over again. I gained his full confidence a few years back when I showed up w/ 20+ days riding in already, including 3 days at Mt. Bohemia to get me ready. Hopefully your friend's are ready

The mighty hills of northern MI are getting some snow and some resorts are running the guns, time to scrape off the summer wax and get your gear ready!

Wow this didn't drum up the interest I expected.  On an off note, I've got a vacation planned to the mitten in about a month, staying at some cottage in sleepy bear dunes with the fam.  Can I expect the foliage to he the correct color????

PowPowPalooza 6 is Feb 20-23 at Mt Bohemia.  I'm free Monday and Tuesday. Maybe I can drag a buddy up that way and use a skifreedeals BOGO.  It's hard to go past Boyne Mt though, I believe hey have the mini pipe setup!

Northern Michigan is getting hammered. It should be a great start for the resorts.

^ Boyne Highlands, Caberfae Peaks and Nubs Nob are my favorites (all in northern MI).  Sometimes northern MI gets dumped on, we had a really good season last year.

I haven't been to the upper peninsula yet but MikeD will tell you Mt. Bohemia has some of the best riding east of the Rockies.  Google Mt. Bohemia when you get a chance.

Ctoma, where do you ride in Michigan? I wouldn't mind trying to get up there sometime this season. Wisconsin is crap most of the time, and I heard you guys get dumped on often from the lake.

^ Let's hope for another.

Having a bit of an issue with the upcoming season, my snowboarding buddy may not purchase a White-Gold card due to his son playing basketball.  We have purchased White-Gold cards the past 3 seasons and usually take 2 or 3 snowboarding weekends to utilize the White-Gold card.

I've hit up Crystal, Nubs, and Mt Brighton a few times each so far this season, what a crazy amount of powder to play in. Wont see another winter like this one for a while probably :(

10 days til Killington though!

Spent the day at Boyne Highlands.  Morning was very cold and windy with snow swirling around like crazy.  After lunch the wind calmed and the snow continued... fresh fluffy powder... over a foot of the fresh stuff, it was awesome.  Some of the best snow I've ever had the pleasure of riding in MI.  Tomorrow is Nubs Nob, should be really good.  Sunday is Caberfae Peaks.

Organized a school trip to Shanty/Schuss Jan 1 - 4 (not my favorite northern MI resort but they cut us a good deal).  Had a great time in the frigid temps, the high temp on Thursday was 4°.

Heading north the 1/24 - 1/26 weekend, probably hit Nubs, Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain.  Let me know if you are heading up that weekend.

I saw that crystal mountain put in a new lift on Buck. They also opened up two new glade runs.  It looks pretty sweet and will add some challenge to the resort.

I am.

Just waiting for the snow to fall.  I planned a group trip to Shanty for Jan 1 - 4 for my sons' school, we're going to have 8 or 9 families up there.  Shanty isn't my favorite but they gave us a really good group rate.  I prefer Boyne Highlands but their group rate was about $70 per person per night higher than Shanty.

Trying to line up some MSIA White-Gold Card trips to northern MI with my buddy, who screwed things up by volunteering to coach 4th/5th grade basketball (our sons go to the same school).  Basketball practices (Mon and Thur) and games (Friday) are going to interfere with our usual Friday - Monday snowboarding long weekends.

Yessir.  Everytime we hit the mountain I tell my buddy we need to buy a plane just for that.  And going to the UP.

On another note, I'm getting sick of this 50 and rain crap.  Turning back to winter up there though so that's a plus.  Be even better if I could get some time off work.

Rode Pine Knob today, not crowded at all which was surprising considering most of the schools were closed for MLK Day.  Became really windy and we called at a day around 2:30.

Heading up for a weekend tour of northern MI this weekend:

Friday - Boyne Mountain
Saturday - Boyne Highlands
Sunday - Crystal Mountain (my least favorite)
Monday - Caberfae Peaks

The parks in my backyard. Check my pic I built that handrail also the pic of me hitting the jump is just left of the rail. I built a drop in up into the trees. Me and my buddies dug a huge hole/half pipe for the landing. Now all we need is some more snow!

Checked out Bittersweet today for a couple hours in the morning the snow was okay and they had about 70% of the terrain open.  There was nobody there and there were no terrain park features out yet. Still a lot of fun as there were only a few people there.
