I really badly need help waxing my snowboard. I would like to be able to do it myself and tried twice now but am not sure if I did a good job, or if I even ruined my snowboard yet =P I've looked up information, videos, saw a video on youtube that led me to this site, and now I'm trying to ask for help. All the videos and information I looked up doesn't seem to quite answer my questions.
I cleaned my board and took off the bindings as a safety precaution before waxing. I have the proper wax and it seemed to wax awesome onto my board. Looked just awesome. I let it sit for 30 mins and by then the board was all cool, not warm at all. Now for scraping! I have a steel scraper. I scraped my board the first time till there was no wax. When I started getting down to the bottom layer, the wax seemed to be black in some spots. I either thought that: a) I burned the wax in certain spots or b) I was scraping off the actual board since the bottom is black! So i redid the wax, but this time I waxed till there was a small thin layer. By doing this, there was a small bit of wax on (i thought to protect my board) and some spots looked different from others because there was no wax, and then a thin layer of wax. I haven't really moved onto buffing any of it. So I need help! Please tell me what's wrong? Is using a steel scraper a very bad option and is a plastic one a lot better? Am I supposed to COMPLETELY remove all the wax or is there supposed to be a thin layer everywhere? If a thin layer, How do I really know when to stop? |

do not use a metal scraper to remove wax. thats for base repairs. get yourself a plastic scraper.
