I visited a indoor slope in Japan while I was studying abroad. I was hoping that I could ride but it was way beyond my ability to ride in there. Which is why I really need to go to HCSC

Favorite Snowboard Trick:
A nice crail, or a front 3 tail grab

Your Best Experience Snowboarding:
A few weeks ago, my region got almost 7 feet of snow, in only a matter of days. It was a great week deep, deep pow, and awesome campus jibbing.

What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer:
I want to go to HCSC because I have been there once before, and I understand the fun and happiness that place brings. My time there was some of the most enjoyable times of my life. Nothing can compare to the good times of a summer on Mt. Hood. Some would call us crazy, but my friends and I cant live through the summer with out snowboarding, so we built our own boxes. It’s hard to even imagine the hysterical looks we get driving back from the ice rinks with a truck full of snow. Every time I sit in the back of a truck shoveling out snow, I think of all the lucky people across the country riding one of the best parks on the planet.

Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session:
It’s hard to say I should deserve it more than anyone else, but I think that the amount of passion I have for snowboarding, and how much I NEED to ride makes me a good choice. Needless to say this is not a cheep trip. Last summer I completely broke the bank on my trip. I saved for well over a year and ended up starting my freshman year of college with almost no money (it was worth it). If I could I would go again in heartbeat, but on my on tab it’s just not possible.

What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream:
More of a shortterm goal, but next winter, 2010-11, my goal is to do more USASA comps, and hopefully qualify for finals if things go well.

here's what goes down in the summer w/o HCSC

much better with HCSC

Rossco2314

Home Resort:
Cannonsburg Ski Resort in Michigan

Years Snowboarding:
6 years

Average number of days Snowboarding each year:
Here in Michigan only about 40 days

Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding)
Lib Tech- Skate Banana w/ Union Force Bindings and 32- Lashed in Purple

Favorite Snowboard Trick:
I love doing front 360's and trying to do front 540s. I love seeing people do rodeos

Your Best Experience Snowboarding:

My best snowboarding experience was when a bunch of my friends and myself went up to a small little cabin in Northern Michigan. It was about 10 of us crammed into a tiny cabin. We boarded the new Olympic Training Center, Otsego Club. It is a sweet park and has 22 foot half-pipe walls. I got to meet a couple Olympians and see them learn double corks. It is the best park in Michigan for sure. I also competed in my first competition and loved it and want to do more even though I did not do as well as I hoped. Overall the weekend was amazing and we had so much fun!!!

What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer:
I really want to snowboard this summer before I go away to college and I cannot do that in Michigan.I want to have one amazing snowboard experience before I leave for college in the fall of 2010. I really would love the opportunity to go to Mt. Hood and snowboard the glacier while meeting great snowboards and be trained by them.I have always wanted to go to HCSC but never could because I couldn't afford it. I had a friend who went to HCSC and he improved so much. I want to improve and be able to do back flips and 540/720s. It looks nuts out there and I really would love to go.

Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session:
Because I really want it. I want to go so bad. All the snow is melted in Michigan and I am still dieing to go snowboarding. If I could afford to go to HCSC I would but I can't, I though about asking my parents to send me there but they can't afford it because they will be paying my way through college. I just want to become the best snowboarder I can. I need to snowboard one great last time before entering into college and starting my adult life. I want to be a kid in a candy store and I think me being at HCSC would do that!!

What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream:
My biggest goal is to be able to land a backside 360 and do a back flip. I would love to be able to fly through the sky upside down. I always would love to be able to land a backside 360. I want to become the best of my ability. I don't care about getting hurt. I have snowboarded with a few broken bones but I didn't care because I was on the hill snowboarding. It is what I love and what calms me.

Better late than never, I always say.  For the record, I've been keeping tabs on this thread since it was posted, but due to software malfunctions I haven't been able to put together and post my videos until now.  Here goes nothing...

SIERRA USER NAME: Jerry

HOME RESORT: Learned at Copper Mountain, now mostly go to Keystone / Breckenridge

YEARS SNOWBOARDING:  4

AVERAGE NUMBER OF DAYS EACH YEAR: 30 - 35

FAVORITE SNOWBOARD SETUP:  Would LOVE to get a Sierrascope, but until then I’m mostly riding my trusty Option Motive, 154.  Bindings are the unstoppable Union Forces.

FAVORITE SNOWBOARD TRICK: Boardslide 360 and back 540

BEST SNOWBOARDING EXPERIENCE:  I love boarding with friends and family (duh- who doesn’t?), but I work 12 hour night shifts at the hospital, and my weird schedule means that I mostly go snowboarding alone.  My favorite experience boarding actually occurred this year when I had some family from Cali fly into town and we got lucky with three powder days at Vail (video included in my next post).  When I am boarding alone I have a blast, but when I can share my love of the mountain with others, the fun is exponential.

WHAT MAKES YOU MOST WANT TO GO TO HCSC THIS SUMMER?   Since first catching a front edge and eating it time after time while learning to snowboard I have wanted to push myself each time I ride.  Progression is a relative term—for me, it means hitting small and medium sized jumps in the park more aggressively, learning to ride switch, coming off small rails fakie.   The euphoria of overcoming my fears and failures to risk learning something new motivates me to push my limits and try new things.  HCSC would help me get the coaching I need to overcome my bad habits, lose my ugly style, and step it up a notch in the park and all over the mountain.

WHY SHOULD YOU WIN THE HCSC SUMMER CAMP SESSION?  I say may the most deserving rider win, but since I’m campaigning for myself... here are a few reasons why I think that I would be a great candidate to win.   FIRST:   I’m the hardest worker I know.  Seriously.  When I decide I’m going to learn a new trick, I will work ALL day EVERY day trying to lock it down.  I’m not afraid to fail, and I’m not afraid to get up and try again.  There won’t be another guy at HCSC who would work harder than me.   SECOND:   I’ve been a loyal Sierra member since mid 2008, I’ve made 8 orders in the past year, and I’ve converted several friends to shopping online at Sierra for all their winter gear needs.  I didn’t join the community just to sign up for this contest (although I do welcome all the newer members whole heartedly), and I’ve been a quiet lurker and sometimes poster since I joined. The basic story is:  I’m loyal and I love Sierra, and winning this contest would only cement my love-affair with Sierra Snowboard.   THIRD:   When I was younger I had hip and ankle surgery, which kept me from learning to snowboard for years.  Now that I’m boarding, I’m here to stay-- but I feel I have years to make up for.  A trip to HCSC would do wonders for stepping my skills up a notch.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SNOWBOARD GOAL/DREAM?  I would love to go heli-boarding in Alaska or Canada.  In terms of skills I would love to progress to the point that I could compete in small competitions at an amateur level, and hit large size features comfortably in the park.

So this first video was taken with my old point and shoot camera at Copper mountain. The second video was taken at Vail my new helmet cam.  It was a couple of great days with some powder and shots in the park too.

OK, this is my crowning jewel!

I've been struggling to progress from backside 180s to backside 3's.
However!!  I just discovered that it is *much* easier to go from backside 1's to frackin double backflips!!

Booooooyaaaaa!

So let me get this straight...if you're a gapper you have to buy crap gear to learn on until you earn the right to wear/ride better gear???  Come on, thats such a silly attitude.  Sure its funny to see people who buy expensive gear only to use it once, but who cares?

Stomping Rails in the park (:

What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer:

The fact that i live in ohio, has nowhere good to board at, And i plan on moving out to Portland next summer, and wanted to check into what its like, im looking at getting a job there (:

Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session:
Its all a fair game, everyone wants the chance to have it, so im giving good luck to all. But i would love to have it because snowboarding isnt just a hobby for me, its a lifestyle, and every second im out on the powder, everything just leaves my mind, and its time to shread.

What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: Move out to oregon next summer & Get Sponsored, its good to persue a goal then to let it flow past you without even trying. I want to be sponsored, and have a job at High Cascade.

EDIT: Nevermind. I didn't think too much before posting.
I'm a dance floor tiger lady bumping everything she has, touching every single lad, rubbing every lady bad.

Not sure who you were in the video mashy but I like the flips everyone was throwing and attempting! The bus idea was pretty neat as well
