^You guys should play live games instead of tournaments. I personally like tournaments over live unless it's some cheap limit texas hold em.

Haven't played texas hold 'em in months. I think i am beginning to forget how to play. I Have been watching back episodes of this years world series and don't even know who this years champion is yet.

I usually hold bout 3 big tourneys a year with 50 dollar buy in and 1 re-buy. Got a buddy who manages Chilies so he caters all the food for dirt cheap. Biggest I had was 30 people in my house and smallest bout 18. It can be draggin at times but I am like you .... I get tired and bored and just go all.

I love playing Texas hold' em with my friends. I usually just play it on my ipod while i am sitting around. I really like playing gin rummy though.

there are MANY card games out there. but the ones I know are Korean.
They probably have American varients of it.

Hearts, Spades..
then the Korean ones: Cho da re, hulla, mighty..

BTW Mighty is the game of all games.. freakin great, like a combination of Spades, hearts and gin rummy all together..

I generally play hold'em in a league (World Tavern Poker) or omaha hi/lo on Pokerstars; however, I play in a dealers choice home game usually once a week where they play games like low Chicago, follow the queen, hold'em, omaha, black jack, in between, stud, jacks or better & trips to win, etc. We have been looking for some new games... anyone got any suggestions?

If the last Ace showed up on the turn, didn't you then have a full house?

i think the consensus is that fulltilt has better players in general and that since pokerstars and partypoker are more casual player oriented, that the people wanting easy money go there for that reason alone.

Yikes i imagine that a 1/1 NL game with a buy in like that would just be an all-in fest.  A fun table to sit at if you just wanted to push some chips around and hope to get lucky, but damn frustrating if you were playing seriously.

As for the Omaha discussion, personally i love the game.  Its a great way to learn the discpline of laying down big hands.  Its damn near impossible for new players to lay down any boat, or reasonable flush, so you can get paid off quite a bit at just about any limit.  I like it even more because its a drawing game, drawing to monster hands is so much fun!

You should definately go check it out.  Even if you just play for a little while, its so damn close to us NoVa'ers and the drive is kinda nice.  I forgot where you live but its only and hour and ten minutes from me and im in Gainesville.  If you are close to Herndon/Reston its like 45 minutes.

Had a good session in Charles Town yesterday.  Played 2/5 NL for about 6 hours and wound up +600.  The play was very fishy as usual.  Loose calls all over the place and often 4-5 players seeing a flop with a 4xBB raise.

Not rigged.

There is a reason that the same people who are successful poker players in real life are successful online as well.  There is just much more variance since you are seeing so many more hands per session.  At a casino the standard is about 20-30 hands per hour, online you can see 100.  And if you are multi tabling you might see 500.

thats so true... a lot of people forget that you'll see 5x-10x more hands than you would at a casino... so the odds of bad beats are so much higher.. you also have to take into account the style of some internet players which is so much looser than "regular" players...
so yea... big hands are gonna get run over more
but royal flushes and straight flushes are still pretty rare i find

Doesnt offer what?  I dont play freerolls but im pretty sure they still have them.  And as for US players not being allowed to play, its still illegal for us to do so, but there are ways around it.  I use E-checks to deposit on Pokerstars and have never had an issue depositing or cashing out.  You have to give a bunch of personal information though, just a heads up.  If you dont want to go that route ive heard that SOME of those prepaid Visa cards work as well.  If all else fails you can just have a friend transfer money to your account, no issue there at all.

I find that players online are way better to the ones who play live. I stick to live even though the rake is a lot higher.
