This season, the cinch ctx's appeal to me the most. What are your thoughts on the ctx (or the CTS)? Also, what company makes the best bindings in your opinion?

The thing to watch with the Cinch is that huge hinge. Concept is great but that hinge just packs up with snow when its soft slushy or pow. The other thing to look at is where the pull strap is for locking it on the highback, it was a cheap pot metal last year and I witnessed that sucker snap right off when my buddy was getting off the lift.

Step-ins!!! Why did you even ask?
Fo real tho, depends on your riding style Burton Cartel (aggro, GREAT price, super responsive) Burton P1 (little more flexy highback than Cartel's, yet stiffer baseplate...SUPER comfy...its a true cadillac...good anywhere on the mountain) Ride SPi (versatile, stiffer, total aggro, for intermediate/advanced rider looking to progress and challenge) Drake Podiums (aggro, all around, responsive highback) Salomon SPX90 (super stiff, super responsive, aggro) Salomon Relay Pro (everywhere binding, comfy, solid) Hope this helps |

You would be so right in that. The new ratchets suck, I was having to do Karate Chops to get out of them on sunday. Yes I love having to judo chop my bindings to get out. While they're light they aren't that responsive and the straps are so chincy. I wanted to slap the rep because he wouldn't let me set them up the way I wanted to. He set them up for himself and was like this is how I ride. The NXT At's are a great concept and solid binding in my opinion. I have a set and got them superbly dialed in to my liking. If you're looking for a solid binding that is more step in oriented then this would be the option. The podiums are a killer freeride binding and if you wanted to go stiffer look at the podium ghost. Rome Targa's aren't a bad choice either. |

best is very subjective, but i would recommend a traditional strap binding over the Cinch or Flows.
there is a reason that 99.9999999% of the snowboard world uses regular strap bindings. ![]() |

How about the Flux Union HF's or Diamond 2's? Does Flux make good bindings? I've never heard of them before. The flux streams looked really nice too.

flux has some solid pricepoint stuff. i think they are the same as SP now. can't remember.
seriously if you are strapped for cash, get a pair of Burton Missions or Rome 390s. |

Well I unlike most people take my bindings completely apart. Its all about spending that hour to fine tune it to your boot specifically. Thats always been the deal with Flows, just spend that time to get it set to you and screw everyone else. Flux is more comparible to Burton as they're a solid plastic unibody binding except on I think the HC Model. They aren't for everyone and I've never been a huge fan of them, but they are no where near as horrid as SP bindings. Edited by Fearme - Nov/16/2006 at 3:45pm |

i love getting a pair of bindings and ripping them apart.
but i guess that's because the first thing my engineer friends say to me is "did you see that cool _____?" and if i don't rip the thing apart, i'll never find it and am not a good enough liar to say i know what they are talking about otherwise. missions baby. missions. |

Salomon has a binding for everyone. I may love my Relays, i may hate them. Finding out within a week. My SPX55's are still the best binding i've ridden.
No one likes Technine here? I like mine. i'm going to get some Cartels this year so i can make sure i don't like them. Missions felt cheap and rubbery response-wise. I will take a boycott hiatus and maybe even buy them from an authorised dealer! |

wha wha wha?
why the boycott? (i may have misssed it). solly makes some solid bindings as do t9 (i like the teams). ride also makes some good binders. all depends on what you are into. |

you didn't miss it. i bought their most expensive helmet last year, was told i would get free replacement by the store for 1 year... WRONG. i called after i cracked it, they said send it in, we'll give it to you at cost and ship it out as fast you shipped it to us... WRONG. i overnighted it to them, it took many, many phone calls and weeks for them to sell me one for 30% off and eventually ship it to me. i swear i talked to 4 different 17 year olds and each one said whomever i talked to the last time was wrong. i would have never paid $130 for a single impact helmet w/o the free replacement. this still gets me mad and that's the main reason i don't support them. i would do the same with any company with such horrid customer service. RED helmet???
Giro has a crash replacement program (shhh) on their bike helmets. 30% off if you return it and they assess that you crashed it rather than bashed it with a hammer. wonder if they have one with their snow helmets. |

yeah, RED. i think one of the 30 people "working" at the store that day were just high. there is such potential there. off the topic even more, i bought the Scotty Arnold b2 (promptly covering the cheesy bling logo w/ Lib stix) for $60-15% here. it is made for multiple impacts, so i'll let you know how many concussions i avoid. and comes with headphones. hmmm... $60 multiple impact vs $130 single crash... tough choice. i think the RED's w/ headphones are even more this year. AND they did away with the mute button which was a unique/heaven sent feature. |

only $160! what a deal!
did you just miss my whole story? AND it's still ugly on my noggin. i think the one touch mute got moved to the cord, which makes no sense to me. i will never buy a helmet from them again. i would almost wear a motorcycle helemt first. i still have my overpriced replacement from last year if the B2 catches on fire or something. but i'm going to find a way to try some Cartels or C02's... probably by buying them. because everyone and their brother has heard of Burton, they have great resale value. |

psssst. i just bought some Cartels. and some more damn 686 pants. sadly, i had to do it elsewhere cause i could get a discount there and they didn't have the Burgundy Soldiers here.
i went for the mediums cause the Missions i got in large seemed a little clunky last year. so now i will know. could be about a $50 demo, if i don't like them. we'll see. who knows. i'll try them out at Baker in a couple of weeks. Edited by evernod - Nov/17/2006 at 2:19pm |

matching is so overrated.
![]() however, i do admit that my pants/jacket do kind of match. brown pants with a brownish kind of camo. i regret getting the brown pants and kind of wish i got the off-whitish color pants instead. oh well. Edited by esy.iam - Nov/18/2006 at 12:58am |

I'm not talking about everything, just my board and bindings. You spend 700-800 bucks on a board and bindings, they should at least match or come close to at least looking cool.

Dont get burton bindings b/c they r 2 stiff. Go wit technine or ride bindings. Technine has the best toe cap available. Salomon also has nice bindings but r a little heavy.
Get: Technine MFM Pro's, Ride Delta's or Alpha's or Salomon Relays

i agree with your assesment of T9 and Salomons (the two bindings i use and love). but i don't understand how you could think Burtons are too stiff, when they're all plastic. you can twist those things around with your hands! |

do you not realize that burton has a host of bindings from ultra soft (Custom) to ultra stiff (c60)? |

I think most binding companies make an array of bindings for people with different characteristics (ie stiffness). I have had good luck with ride bindings in the past but I think the more important thing is to know what you are looking for feelwise in a binding.
