    Posted: Mar/01/2010 at 4:52pm
I went snowboarding yesterday for basically the first time. I went with a couple of my family members who ski. So every time we got off the chair lift I was always trying to catch up to them because I had to take the time in strapping in my binding.
Are there any tips or hints that you guys can give me on strapping them in a bit faster? Or is there no real trick, you just have to get used to the setup and after a while you get hang of it?

By the way those How-To videos really helped. I already know how to turn (not very good, but still) and I'm going down the blue hills. Thanks Sierra!

Practice makes perfect. Its never going to be as fast as hopping off a lift with skis though.

If you're trying to catch up to a skier good luck, pretty much going to have to get flows in order to do that and learn how to flip up the highback while your moving

Well actually you can strap while riding if you just learn how to but it's all getting use to it, more time you ride more easier things become, including strapping.

I've been riding for six years and I'm still the slowest guy to strap in. I just like wiping the snow off my boots and baseplate and sitting down so my heel is all the way back, flush with the heel cup. A lot of guys strap in while standing up and I've done that a few times but it never seems to be tight enough.

practise, practise, practise.

I often practise sitting on the couch watching TV. Helps the slow summers go quicker

I'm in the same boat, I like to clear the snow off my binding plus it's never tight enough doing it while standing up. Just try to catch them on the way down normally I ride faster than anyone anyway.

Seriously your A-hole friends wont wait a minute for you to get strapped in before they ride off?

I take my time. While i strap i think about goals for the next run (gonna hit that cool feature i saw last time, etc), catch my breath if ive skated a long way, maybe adjust my Ipod.

I started a few months ago myself. My friends would always wait. That's what friends are for. Taught me how to snowboard and how to put on the binding correctly; after practicing for a few weeks, I can do it very quickly. I find that if I put the ankle strap behind the highback, it's easier to step in.

I usually try to ride the lift by myself (if it's a double lift) or sit a space away from another person (for 3+ people lifts). I find that then I have room to brush off snow off the board and binding, so I can strap in immediately.

if you have to catch up to your skier friends, meaning theyre not waiting for you to strap in, theyre dicks, and thats not an issue you should have to take care of, its something they should take care of, IE wait for their friend.
