Yeah, light cycles are what I remember most about Tron. Maybe a few of the arcade/video games as well. Discs of Tron anyone?

A coworker showed me this trailer yesterday and proceeded to tell me Tron was the best movie Disney ever made. I watched the original Tron last night. Very cutting edge for when it was released in 1982 but I would hardly call it the greatest movie Disney has ever made. Interested in seeing this new one.

yeah, Tron was a good movie and very creative with the neon and stuff, but 3D animation was in it's infancy and it really shows with all the chunky low res vertexes and zero textures (round wheels was cutting edge back then)...worse than any computer game since about 1995 (Star Wars X-Wing comes to mind).
Read somewhere that the massive mainframe computer (Cray) they used to render even those graphics had about the power of a low-end modern laptop. |

Tron is one of those movies that you either saw back in the day and think its still awesome or if you saw it recently, think it stinks.
I love it, but on the other hand just saw the original Clash of the Titans and thought it blew chunks.

it's not exactly a remake because the new one talks about his son... Hence the sub title "Tron Legacy" And, Tron (original) was great. I look forward to seeing this one.

TRON movie is a great movie, if you saw it on tele you would watch it all the way.

Seeing this and the old trailer makes we want to go see the original again. I don't think I've seen it since it was in the movies.
It's funny watching the old trailer and seeing some stuff South Park has taken... like how Stan got zapped in to facebook looked like Jeff Bridges getting zapped into Tron. Hopefully the new movie lives up to the hype. |
