Either way, it looks sick. Here's another pic of the same car with black wheels. It's almost too much though. I like the contrast of the silver.

New Drive Clean emission test procedure implemented by the Ministry of Environment no longer uses a dynamometer and exhaust gas analyser. The new method connects to the vehicle ECU via OBD-II and conducts the test electronically. All OBD-II-equipped motor vehicles must be tested by this method. So the concern now to owners is no longer how clean your exhaust is, but whether the ECU has has stored any DTCs and whether it can pass onboard readiness tests.

The Drive Clean program is for high-density regions of Ontario, only. I've earned the Drive Clean Inspector certification and I think it's a complete waste of time and a total money grab. There are much more cost-effective and relevant methods to gauge vehicle maintenance than this program. We should use Japan's motor vehicle safety standards: mandatory complete vehicle inspections by the government every two years.

I'm assuming if you have an OBD-I ecu they'll be testing the old fashion way? or is there some kind of converter? I don't keep track of car knowledge anymore. |

Any vehicles not equipped with OBD-II must use the old test method: the dynamometer and gas analyser. Since most shops have switched over to the new system, these dynos are getting harder to find.

I LOVE my Golf GTI! it is almost 2 years old now. Black with red accents looks the business. I can't wait until August when I get to do a track day with some ScirrocoR's.

So you just fix up old Supras, drive them for a while and then sell them?

I'm getting too old for an unreliable project car. I have a WRX now and I've been thinking of returning everything back to stock and selling it for something reliable and better on gas. If we can ever afford to buy a house I'd like a project car. |

The engine and driveline are factory units, no modification necessary. Spun a rod bearing so it should not be driven. I have a few engines laying around and will piece one together out of the good parts next year, plus some modern-era upgrades. The gearbox needs an output shaft seal, input shaft bearing that I damaged, shift forks converted to forged billet units for reliability, and electronic speedometer conversion. The gearbox is in pieces under a bench at work. ![]()
It is possible to have a project car that is reliable if maintenance is taken seriously. The most reliable vehicle ever in my family was my 1987 Toyota 4Runner. At over 25 years old, it was still cheaper to maintain than every other car we've ever had for as long as I've been alive. It didn't start one day, so I diagnosed it, went to the dealership, bought a $20 ignition wire and drove it to work the same morning. I sold it last year for something more modern and safer. And, incidentally, the cost of assembling a Supra Turbo from an empty chassis was cheaper than buying a used one.

You also need a hot pink mustache on your hood or even eyelid on your front lights to match.
