    Posted: Mar/30/2010 at 12:47pm
I thought this merits its own thread for the new year... Especially since it's a huge price drop from last year. Purchase by April 25th and save $50 over kirkwood's advertised website price.

So here are the details:

$299 = fully unlimited season pass. no black out days, you can ride any day of the week. This a huge discount over last year! With day passes costing $74/day, you basically pay for this pass in 2 weekends!

This pass is equivalent to Kirkwood's 7Wood pass which retails for $349. So you save $50 by going through the network. To purchase go to:

www.kirkwood.com/networkpass

login = EPA

password = Kirkwood

super easy to remember.

To get the $299 price you must purchase by April 25th. Prices go up after that. The second and third deadlines are September 6th and December 20th. The final network price will be $499, so I assume the price after april 25th may be in the $399 range.

You get the following pass benefits:

    * (2) per day $10 off buddy tickets on weekends and holidays. $20 off midweek
    * 20% off Sun-Fri lodging
    * 10% off logo items and passholder pricing at skikirkwood.com

Please email me with any questions and pass it on to your friends. kirkwoodnetworkpass@gmail.com

I'll post updates and more info here: http://kirkwoodnetworkpass.blogspot.com/

that sounds like a great deal. my mammoth pass went up by 11% this year. it's more than double the cost of the kirkwood pass and I have to purchase by april 30. maybe it's time to move to nocal.

Kwood is the best mountain in the Tahoe area, IMO.

+1

By far the best value. $299 for an unlimited pass? I paid $350 for mine last year and felt i got a really good deal given how awesome that mountain is.

Some of the best terrain and shortest (no) lift lines, as well as some of the deepest snow and steepest terrain.

kirkwood is my personal favorite. It has great terrain (lots of steeps and off piste), gets more snow than most of tahoe, and is not crowded (in comparison to other tahoe resorts).

the downsides are that it's hard to get to (4wd recommended), there is no good food really or anything else to do besides ride.

But if yer into riding over lodge time, it's a great resort. Also the place doesn't get torn up after 30 seconds of the lift opening on a powder day (like say squaw)... holds the snow really well and there a lots of stashes to hit off piste that stay good all day... and they have cheap season pass deals which is huge too.

my $0.02

you mean bub's pub? or the battered beaver aka tower bar?

the kirkwood inn across the street has the best food in the area (IMO) but that's not saying much.

i just cook at home mostly.

i don't know of any 6wood discounts...

the only ones i know about are the network and college network deals and those are both for unlimited passes.

it's pretty hard to find any pass for less than $249 (6wood price)... that's why i doubt they give em out any cheaper.

if you ride one saturday the network pretty much pays for itself

I love kirkwood man.  Mike.M called me the a "Kirkwood Hippie"   But it is super true.  Yes this area is a biatch to get too.  yes i have once been stuck 5 miles away from kirkwood and spend the night in my car (total trip from SF to Tahoe 19 hours), but I hit probably 24 riding days this year, 15 or so of which were powder days at kirkwood.  Here is my video of how much snow dumped there on easter sunday.

no limit on the # of passes. you just have to buy it by april 25th to get the lowest price.

even thought it has the least expensive season pass in tahoe (see this for a price comparison http://kirkwoodnetworkpass.blogspot.com/2010/03/comparison-shopping.html, kirkwood remains relatively less crowded for sierra resorts b/c it's a little off the beaten path. so while i'd expect them to sell more passes this year than last, they still won't come close to places like squaw which sold an insane # of passes last year.

I've never been to kirkwood before but I hear lots of good things, Even though it is a low price compared to other resorts the double whammy for northstar and sierra at tahoe seems to be the most favorable to me, just because you can go to two places.

I made it to Kirkwood for a powder day earlier this year and it was indeed an awesome time, and that is a great price for any unlimited pass!! I agreed with DirtyDragon tho it is a biatch to get to that place, took us over 3hrs to get there! Which is one of the reasons I went with the Double Whammy Sierra/N* pass instead!

yeah it can be a pain to get to but the upside is there is a lot less traffic on 88 vs 50 or 80 and the out of the wayness = more fresh tracks!

one last reminder that prices are going up in three days. looking preliminarily like an increase to $349 through early september. so if $50 is worth the wait, there you have it... otherwise $299 is gonna be hard to beat!

i'm heading up there for closing weekend, doing some tailgating on sunday at the 'wood. should be nice and sunny with some lovely corn snow for the taking. mmmm

just an FYI:

the password is actually: kirkwood
(it is case sensitive)

thanks EPA! There seem to be a bunch of codes available on craigslist but I assume they are all the same. Very cool.
If you are a student you can get the pass for cheaper ($250) just a heads up for y'all poor college students...

it's actually not a bad price for those on vacation to tahoe for a week... but might be a bit to plan in advance this far out.

yeah i feel for the mammoth folks. great mtn. but since they don't have much competition in the eastern sierra... they can call their prices.

vanango- thanks for the heads up. i forgot about case sensitivity when i originally posted. can't seem to edit the original post the correct it.

and yeah the online merchant system they have is a little clunky and you end up having to set up a password for your profile etc. so heads up it might take a few minutes to get through the checkout process.

There is nothing at kirkwood that is cheap.  Even the crappiest rooms are only going to be 100 bucks if you get a deal.  South lake tahoe has cheap places on the weekdays(motel 6 is 30 bucks a night and its a 35 min drive to kirkwood).  Weekends you are getting reamed even in south lake though.  When I was a teenager i used to just drive up late with my buddys and crash in the lobby of the Meadows.  Sometimes people would take pitty and hook us up with a roomClap

@prinz

on mtn. you have to either go through kirkwood reservations or craigslist. it generally isn't cheap though there are deals out there.

you can also stay at some cabins at caples lake a few miles away and then down the road further at sorrensons.

south lake is a 30-45 min drive (dep. on snow conditions). that's where you'll find the bulk of the cheap stuff.

you can also sleep in your vehicle if it's equipped for subzero temps. they have an overnight lot with lots of converted pick ups to rvs.

yes but the price has gone up to $329. It's still $50 less than the 7wood (which has essentially the same benefits, except for pre-xmas buddy passes).

the $329 price should be good through september 6th.

At $299, it is a bargain.  Small hills at PA(icy slopes) charges $400.00 for the season.  I wish I was back in CA so that I can go to Tahoe and Mammoth every year.  Angry
