Rome: I felt the need to stop and take a minute to say thanks. I had made assumptions about what to expect. Typically you go to a board demo and the people setting you up are sometimes helpful and cool, but a lot of times they seem annoyed to have to deal with people. I went to Stowe for Bettypalooza with the intent on riding one of their boards if they had something I wanted to ride. Flat out, Rome stepped up more than I would have ever expected. I know Jenn and Sierra spent some time making arrangements and making sure that we had a good time. For a company to come out with a lot of their staff and ride with us, as well as let us demo a lot of their 2011 boards and bindings (even some boots) was just impressive. Getting us some beer, Redbull, food, and just overall being some of the most laidback and cool people I have met in the industry. I never would have expected this from them. I should Thanks guys, I know you changed my perspective on Rome. I will be looking to ride one of your boards next year. If you are ever in my area, let me know. I would like to return the favor and hospitality. Joel |

I couldn't agree with you more Joel. Mike and the rest of the Rome crew were top notch when it came to meeting our snowboarding needs. The demo setup the first night was great, with Mike and Justin helping out with setup, and Ian talking about the new boots and lacing systems. Then they went all out with the tickets to get into the Matterhorn and all the drink tickets, after spending the day on the slopes with us. I'll be the first to admit they converted me, and I'm looking at Rome in a whole new way.
Things I got to demo: 2011 Rome Anthem 2011 Rome Mod Wide 2011 Rome 390 Boss Bindings 2011 Rome Libertine Boots w/Pureflex I know I'll be picking up the boots and bindings next year. First because they're top notch products, and secondly, I'm going to support companies that care about snowboarders, and Rome showed me they do.

As for the Rome Design, Rome is consolidating a lot of their boards, but I would hit up Rome_Mike for a lot of the specific questions. I can also look in their brochure when I get home.

Glad to hear that Rome treated you top notch. I really like the 390s I picked up this year and was planning to get either Targa's or 390 Boss next year.

With Burton being such tools and moving out of Sierra, it sounds like Rome would be a great replacement. They still understand its about the RIDERS not the brands! Good for them to keep snowboarding like it should be, not skiing |

If you put a gun to my head the closest thing to it in next years line is probably the Anthem SS. Directional instead of directional twin pumped full of their latest and greatest tech stuff, sitting on a highend base that wants to go fast.
I rode an Agent Rocker 159 and 390 Bosses in the morning and early afternoon before my back decided to take its ball and go home. Very fun deck. I would highly recommend it for the rider who likes a little bit of everything, and is not completely stoked on true camber, or standard rocker profiles. It has Rome's hybrid rocker profile giving it some loose qualities of rocker and retaining more accessible pop, and a little of the stability of camber. I almost busted my arse on a little jump because I really loaded up the tail to see what it had pop-wise, and I got a lot more than I expected putting me down to the bottom third of the landing. Overall a very fun board if they have a bigger one than the 159 I might think about picking it up next year.
The 390 Bosses were everything I love about my current 390s + some tweaks to make things better. With the asymetrical highbacks I didn't feel like I needed the Forward lean I typically put on my current 390s. The Yes I can't beds, seemed super cush. All in all great ride.
The Rome crew themselves were nothing short of spectacular. Rome_Mike was particularly awesome and completely engaging. He really seemed to want to hear everything we had to say, and went out of his way to make sure everyone got what they wanted to ride and had a good time.

VR, I loved the Pureflex. It was amazing, stayed tight all day and super easy to use. Libertine is a great boot.

Well said Joel. I haven't really had a chance to interact with people in the industry but the Rome crew really showed us an awesome time. From the demo to hanging out at the Matterhorn and riding on the mountain these guys are genuinely awesome people who love snowboarding.
I didn't get to ride the Pureflex Libertines but from trying them on they look like a high quality boot. The lacing system was very easy to use and held a pretty tight hold. If you look at the pics and videos of the boot the plastic inserts all along the boot are actually clips not just slotted guides. They were very comfortable especially with the extra padding behind the ankle, this is key feature for someone like me that has skinny ankles. |

A+
I wish I would have spent more time on the board/binding combo I was demoing so I could write a review for it... but I didn't want to tweak the set up once I hit the hill and found the stance a tad wide. The Rome staff we're amazing, to say the least. Always cheery and willing to accommodate, super helpful and Mike brought me Hawaiian pizza!!! I was SUPER STOKED! Thanks for the lovely BBQ and parking lot pimping, and for trying to keep an eye on me while I went on a drinking rampage at the matterhorn - sorry I couldnt make it to dinner ![]() Thanks for the awesome weekend, it went by way too fast! |

Design gone, burton continually "softening" their decks,,etc..It's ANARCHY...
In 5 years we're all going to be riding soft wet noodles down green runs...

I try steering clear of these threads since I missed the event. Anyway, Rome is sending over some die-cuts (or stickers) so I can slap them on the Sierra Reverse Crew. Targas have been pretty sweet, still not convinced about the toe/cap straps (very similar to the ones I had on the 390s) but the rest of the binding is top notch.
Boss I heard had cantbeds and one other feature which escapes me at the moment. What I want to see is a cantbed with adjustable toe ramp. I junked the cantbeds that came with the un..incs because they didn't have an adjustable toe ramp, ended up grabbing a pair of sensorybeds.
