Try to find a buddy to ship stuff with...buying single items (like your jacket) is certain to cost a fortune in overseas shipping

they already take like 3/4 of your shipping off. its extra cost from Fedex there isnt much sierra can do because they wont make a profit on your order.
i usually get a group to order. ive bought like maybe 7 things this season but done like 5 orders if you dont like paying shipping you can go waste cash at your local :) so for me, paying like $100 for shipping of like 2 jackets a board pants and some other odds and ends is okay with me! |

a one off day though would be a corker.
You know what else is weird? If it was 70% plus shipping i probably wouldnt buy it. But 50% plus free international shipping i think i probably would EVEN IF materially the total sum was even more expensive. theres just something annoying about paying for something etheral and mysterious like shipping :) with the board its physically there, you can take or leave it because thats the price youre paying. Its value is ostensible in the price. When i think of my sierrascope for example i think of it as a 300 buck board, even though the damn thing ended up costing something in the region of 450 dollars. Id much prefer to think of it as a $450 deck if im paying that :) Im a simple man, and i like simple sums! Also, another thing is if you had an international shipping day free for all, international customers would get to feel kinda loved and thats nice. I mean we're loved, but our custom is pretty much a by product to the actual meat and two veg of the site (namely, you still end up beating our local market prices). Something like a jamboree would definitely go a long way in helping sierra get more international custom than it probably gets right now. The free board thing is a nice way to bring people to the site and the loss is usually offset by people buying stuff in the longer term. I think the same principle applies. A day or two of free shipping may mean lost revenue than if you sold it direct in the domestic market, but little things like that will eventually work in their favour (notwithstanding the fact that prices are now 50% of retail instead of 70%). Its all good ways of connecting to your custom base on a slightly more interesting level than being 'the cheapest product' at the end of the day. |

i wonder if it could actually work though?
the cost must be borne by someone. i think maybe that's why other sites do the free shipping, but their base prices are higher. sierra does the low base price, and then shipping ontop (for usa locals). so instead of 70% off, they can do 50% off and free shipping. possibly. haha - might still come out behind. |

I can't wait till I move to North America. Japanese resorts are 100x better than NA resorts but gear here is actually like 2-3x Sierra's price.

i reckon the shipping is a fair price considering other online places cost like $100 to ship a board
$500 is a good deal...probably cost you around $100 to ship $500 worth of stuff so its an extra 20% off

1 or 2 days 50% Sale + free international shipping would sound really promising and a good gimmick for the shop. At the end of the day, it might be work out pretty much the same at 70% sale + shipping fee for the international buyer. Is just another way to catch people eye in term of business strategy. I would def. make a few shipment if the deal is on "50% + free international shipping".
Looking forward, finger cross.

Yeah, it's definitely great.
500$ is a fair deal. Shipping to Germany is quite expensive. Some guys paid up to 150$ for one shipment. It's definitely better to get some more gear and less shipping costs. |
