    Posted: Apr/10/2010 at 5:33pm
I went back 15 pages looking for one and didn't see a PS3 thread, but forgive me if there has already been one.  Since we have a 360 thread, I figured we might as well have a PS3 thread as well.

PSN ID: Skicks35 - Hit me up if you want!
Games: Currently working my way up to the majors in MLB the show, but I can always go back to MW2 if called for.  Also have NHL 10, but never played it online, so I highly doubt I'd be any good.

Anybody have any other game suggestions?

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a great multiplayer (online) game.  Lots of teamwork-based combat and tons of sweet vehicles.

I keep hearing great thigns about this.  I think I've just had tunnel vision when it comes to first person shooters (MW2).  I'll have to try it out.  Anybody try Heavy Rain?  Very interesting/unique gameplay apparently, but I'm not sure if I want to drop $60 on it yet.

Top 5 games that I've played so far:

1. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
This was a little bit repetitive after a long time, but it was really fun getting into it and the game lasted forever since I didn't follow the main story line and went off on the gazillion side missions before playing the main story line. On the downside of that, the main story line was really easy to beat with all the best armor, weapons and magic.

2. Fallout 3
This is like a future version of Oblivion made by the same people so I wasn't surprised that I liked it a lot. Still have yet to finish this game. Probably 150 hours in.

3. Army of Two
I liked this game more than a lot of other FPS even though the story line is somewhat short and it is kind of annoying how you have to power up all of your weapons. Really I just liked the gameplay and the way you could direct traffic and tell the other guy what to do without pulling up a submenu like in all the Tom Clancy games that have teams.

4. Bioshock
I got this game for $20 on sale and didn't really know what to expect because it had mixed reviews. I thought the storyline and feel of the game was its greatest strength, just a sick and twisted world you had to make your way through, the stuff you had to figure out wasn't totally stupid and pointless, there were some rewards for completely searching through every level instead of blazing through as fast as you could. I was a bit annoyed at the seemingly constant drought of ammo.

5. God of War I and II combo
Rereleased/updated from the PS2 version, I think these games are still fun even though you do lose some things like 360 vision ability and you go back to levels with finite walls all over the place. I think the games have good direction and pace although the 1000 guys you have to melee to escape a room is kind of stupid and boring at times. I think the puzzles and harder enemies/bosses are the strong suit of the games, they can feel like button mashers at times.
Don't get mad at your boss, just get apathetic about work

Heavy Rain was one of the best games I have played so far this year. GOW 3 was superb too. FF XIII is next on my list.

I dont know about you guys but i played Battlefield and i play Modern Warfare 2... does Battlefield seem a bit lacking in the controls when you compare the 2?

It's, like im running straight and I want the guy to run to the left or right but he cant... he stops mid running, moves left or right, then run again... I think it has a bunch of glitches where out of no where i get suck against a wall or something I'm not even near... And theres some shit on the ground that I can barely notice, that makes me stop moving and makes me want to slam the shit out of my controllers... just like i did way back in the NES days...

I give it a 3 out of a 5... good game and good graphics but controls just really laggy and suck to me... most of the time I just sit there sniping shtookers so I don't have to run and move around...
Also I never played the campaign just online... maybe its just an online thing... or maybe just me...

Not sure if this was already posted but I do Gamefly, video game netflix, and it's worth the $17/month. I easily go through 4 or 5 games a month, sometimes more if I get games that I send back immediately, so the savings in my mind is pretty significant. Even if you buy and sell you're still losing $ on each game. It's also very convenient and for the most part the games you want are available within a day or two if not right away. Anyway, just a suggestion for those of you out there that like to play and be done; however, you can keep the game as long as you want. i very rarely ever replay. Those that I do play alot, Madden, I purchase.

Currently playing God of War III. Very fun, not normally into the button mashing games but the series is very appealing for many different reasons. Unfortunately I ran into a bug last night and may have to start over, I'll probably try going back a save point or two and see if that works. Other than that I definitely recommend.

I have a huge list of games left to beat.

Metal Gear Solid 4
Grand Theft Auto 4
Uncharted
Uncharted 2
Fallout 3's numerous expansions
God of War III
Final Fantasy XIII

and numerous others
When I want to blow off some steam though I put Rock Band in with the drum trainer and play my real drums to it.  I still suck, but I'm getting better.

Yea, I think one of my problems is that when a new game comes out that I want, I get wrapped up in the new one and completely stop playing my old ones.  For instance, like magic, I'm still only about 50% done with GTA4, I stopped playing Tiger Woods when NHL 10 came out, stopped playing NHL 10 when MW2 came out, stopped playing MW2 when MLB the show came out.  Its an endless cycle, and actually great marketing if you think about it.

I'm waiting to play Heavy Rain, my friend has it and I'm going borrow it from him. I just finished playing Uncharted 2 and it was great. I think I liked the first one's story more though. Playing through Final Fantasy 13 now, so far it's pretty awesome.

Battlefield forces a certain type of gameplay through its mechanics.  Unlike CS and MW2, where run and gunning is pretty much king, and whoever can twitch out their shots first has the upper hand.  Killstreaks are much less common and not as important to the game.

Movement is really clunky compared to these other shooters, probably because that how soldiers actually move.  You're not going to fly around with 100lbs of gear, so as a result a much larger focus is placed on cover, strategy, and teamwork.  And since almost every instance of cover is destructible, this becomes very interesting.  That being said, the game definitely needed some more polish before coming out, but then again, this is EA we're talking about here.

I prefer hardcore mode overall because it feels more realistic and promotes strategy.  If you run down the middle of the level, you're going to get popped.  What I seem to like most is the fact that I can choose whether or not to engage the enemy, and this is a huge advantage at times.  I can hide in a building with a motion sensor while my squad spawns off me behind enemy lines to take an mcom, but if I let them know where I am by shooting at everything that moves, I'm screwed.

What I like most about this and other battlefield games is that there are sooo many ways to play it.
