@ potato.pete 99.9% sure you don't need chains to get to the skitube. Re sleeping in your ute, you'll be bloody cold. There is a caravan camping site just out of jindi that I think is really cheap - If iwas you I'd pitch a tent and go for a really warm sleeping bag. A few if my friends have camped in the national park too. My b/f went fishing near jindi a few weeks back and slept on the back of his ute he said it was freezing even then.

Most of my friends from syd come stay the night in Canberra then we leave by 5 and get up at the snow 8:30-9:00.

Have you looked at the stations rates it's really cheap and you get discounts if u have a perisher card.

sounds like Sierra should set-up shop in Canberra. Plenty of goods getting shipped there.

its not 10hrs from syd mate, more like 7 i think.  I'll be doing the trip a few times with mates too.  Let me know if you need another baorder to keep you awake on the drive as I'm always keen to get down to the snow since I just got rid of the car for the moment.

the govt banned the fireworks this year :( lots of people bought up heaps and still have stashes of them though. So all canberra has left is lots of porn shops.

but i actually really like canberra its laid back, pretty and not far from the coast or the snow

@bdenny4 i think most people from canberra are pubes (public servants)

definitely have some nice wineries around here, your lucky your aunty has one, i hope you get lots of freebies :) - I love wine. I did the yarra valley last year and some wineries near the grampains. I want to see the hunter valley this year.

stand on one leg with arms raised in T formation. the goal is to stand still for 1min..... simple i know...... but do it with your eyes closed. not so simple now huh?

once you get good ad that on both ankles stand on a pillow and do the same exercise.

what i also do is even now in bed on here i stretch and rotate my ankle to promote good circulation ect.

hope this helps, even a little :)

Ah yes, I've been trying some similar exercises.  Right now my balance is absolutely shocking, I can barely last 5seconds on my weak foot.  Injuries suck.  I think I won't be hitting the snow until at least September (in NZ), so I hope everyone here is going to take advantage of the white stuff for me.

I'll be at Hotham then as I suppose a few others will.
Peak time mid August

No hoodies down this way at the moment - feels like summer again with high 20's all week (think it might have even been warmer than that today)

From the blue mountains, west of sydney!

Gets pretty cold here in winter...but you know, not as cold as I'd like it to be ;)

Planning on heading to Mt Hotham around late july I think. So definitely looking forward to that.
But the big plans are for Canada at the end of the year. East coast road trip with half a dozen mates for 3 months is what's on the cards at the moment. Should be pretty intense!
But I'm spending all my pay on gear and searching for the best deals I can find instead of doing uni homework.
I managed to get myself a pay rise at work and am giving up some full weekends to get me there haha...

The snow is all can think about right now.

^ hoo... eye patches are only for costumes, it'll be pretty risky to board with an eye patch, as you'll lose your depth perception...  or will you?.... maybe I need to try. :P

no it was a booze cruise.... on a boat

was pretty good got pretty blind then went to eurotrash for a bit, everyone was dressed up as a good night.

some guy got kicjed off the boat like the boat pulled over and he had to get off. now that as hilarious!

and i doubt you could board well with an eye patch on as you would indeed loose a large amount of depth perception.

From Docklands or down the Yarra?

There's a Mythbusters episode where they discuss the eyepatch. Apparently, it gave a huge advantage to sight where there was little light (below deck). The idea is to remove the eyepatch, after the eye has adjusted to getting little light and the pupil had opened up.

Docklands

so the eyepatch would work well for all the boarding you do under the deck of a boat. ill keep that in mind

I'm from Brisbane, how I long to live closer to the snow.
This year, 8 of us are flying down to Canberra Thursday after work, taking the 5am bus to Perisher Friday morning and heading back to Canberra Sunday night. Then take a plane back to Brissy Monday at 6am and go straight to work... LOL
Hope it's worth the pain!LOL
