Plenty of us from Melb. Loving this cold weather, well sort of 'cos now I have a cold.

I'm up for share trips to Hotham/Falls/Buller.

Also, +1 for rock climbing. Not much of a boulderer myself, I prefer multipitching at Mt. Arapiles. Now that is some beautiful rock.

To get back on track, I'm about to fit my bindings to my new board ~awesome~ Signal Omni that Mr FedEx dropped off today.

I try to go down at least 3-4 times each season. I usually go to Thredbo but might decide to hit Perisher this yr.

Reviving an old thread..
Its almost that time of year again.. Same deal as before..

Hotham, Falls (maybe buller depending on weather)
day trips or weekends.

Split fuel costs and driving time.
probably only be going early this season.. Got surgery for Scaphoid bone graft dude mid season...

Why do people seem to prefer Hotham to Buller? Is it worth the extra hours drive?

I haven't been to Buller

but last year i went down to Hotham with my mates and it was worth the extra 3 hours trip instead of the norm for us which is Thredbo and it was well worth it :D

Hmmm... Hotham over Buller...
No idea.
Last year I went to Buller, Hotham and Falls - they all seemed relatively similar.
Except for one day at Buller... The only chair that was open was Blue Bullet, the snow was like cornflour and the queues were 30 minutes long.
We left after 2 hours and drove back to Melbourne.

Aussie snowfields are robbing everyone blind IMHO.
I'm currently in Vancouver, Canada and bought a spring seasons pass at Mt Seymour for $133...
Now that's a deal!

I've never boarded at Buller, but from what I've heard they get slammed on the weekends with people coming up from Melbourne.. So the runs get fairly packed!

I'm from Albury.. And board at Falls but hope to go to Hotham this year when I get my season pass.. Which came on sale TODAY.. $723 for a tertiary pass.. Woooo!!!! So if anyone wants to carpool this year from Albury/Wodonga/surrounds, hit me up.. I hope to get up some way or another as many weekends this season as possible!!

Buller front slopes do get pretty hectic on weekends, but anywhere over the back isn't too bad. You can pretty much board straight up to a lift and hop on all day. Mid-week is definately the best time to go, same as anywhere else really...

Perth here

I've hit up Hakuba twice. Keen to hit up NZ this winter, and then Niseko over xmas/new years. In my line of work a good 6 months of the year are "thou shalt not take annual leave" periods so I can only do short trips if any at all.

Did anyone hear about Melbourne planning to get two dry slopes?

http://www.snowboardermag.com.au/news/latest-news/3115-melbourne-to-get-two-dry-slope-facilities

And looking at the planned locations for around Australia: http://www.skiingandsnowboarding.com.au/location.php

It looks like (I'm guessing if Melbourne is successful) all states except NT will be getting dry slopes too.

I'm soo glad I'm not the only one that's done that! Loaded up bigtime this semester with 2 DE law classes + internals.. And now only have to do one class next sem and am doing it by DE.. Or two if I decide to go with my post-grad - It's gonna be mad!

Has anyone else stayed at the mansfield backpackers on a fri or sat night? Great way to beat the early wake up after smashin it in the pub the night before.

Also they got free pingers in the rec room

I've always stayed on Mt at hotham, mainly bc a mate works up there and get on the piss and catch up but if ur stayin off Mt, i'd suggest getting up there early because the daily parking ALWAYS packs out fast and if blue rib isn't open then u gotta get the bus which is shitty
