Dorky question, but what is everybody's favorite board game?  One of my best friends recently bought me Settlers of Catan which is an extremely addicting game.  I also like Risk a lot.

I play Catan on Xbox Live Arcade...

But my favorite board game is Monopoly.  More fun if you play with real money.

My family is big on board games during family gatherings, not sure why exactly.  But we love Cranium and Quelf.

i'd say speed scrabble (even though you don't use the board) or settlers.  man that game gets so heated sometimes.

I like Bang! a lot.  It's not really a board game, more a card game, but similar idea.  It's similar to the card game "Mafia," but with more variety.  There's a sheriff and a deputy against a few bandits, and a renegade trying to kill both sides.  The sheriff is known, no one else is.  It goes pretty quickly, is breezy, but fun.

On a more involved level, I played a game recently called Arkham Horror based on HP Lovecraft's works.  It's a collaborative game where you try to stop an ancient from coming through into the world... very unique, I've only played once but definitely looking forward to doing it again.
ROLL ON, BISHES.

My favorite game is Scrabble. I like the turntable board with tile walls at home, and the travel one for on the road, the Facebook one for out of town friends...

But game nights with lots of people, I like the game Pit. For pit, I think you need at least 4 people, but it's better with more.

(Info about Pit: http://thehouseofcards.com/retail/pit.html )

I also like discovering weird out-of-print games at garage sales. That's how I originally found Pit!

I actually just played settlers for the first time this weekend. I had never heard of it before but I really liked it! It was pretty easy to pick up and didn't take too long to play. For the more hardcore people, Axis and Allies is a really awsome game, however it took over a month to finish up a game once...

I really like the German board games like settlers and there are a few others that i have played which were fun. But they cost to much to buy, well settlers has become really popular so the price has gone down.

Settlers, Apples to Apples, then you get exotic in my family's game cabinet.

Power Grid, Infernal Contraption, Bang!, Munchkin, Chaos,...

If you like epic-length very subtly competitive games, Empire Builder is pro. Just set aside 6+ hours for your first playthrough, and don't have anyone at the table who can't stand economics.

And Timmay, you should try games made by Mayfair. They're a US company (to my knowledge) and produce games roughly on par with the Germans. I have actually met the guy who runs boardgamegeek.com, which might be a decent source for your "quality board game needs".
When I do good I am never remembered. When I do bad I am never forgotten.

I LOVE Settlers! Amazingly easy to pick up and learn, and great fun especially if you pick up the 5-6 player expansion.

Lol that's not true! You can get a bad salary, have a tornado hit your house, and go bankrupt! hahaha but yeah for the most part everyone has kids and houses and makes a lot of money. I usually like games that require some sort of skill or strategy but I played it a lot as a kid and let's be honest, the spin wheel in life is half the fun. More games should have one lol
