How the will they know if there are lots of people if it's not on???? Sounds like the chicken and the egg.

Nzben I think it's skinny soy decafe lactose free chai lattes lol. Seriously though most people were just wondering if it was on or not cause they said it was on but it wasn't.

Well, I'm happy with my purchases from Sierra... I'm just sorry I bought the first lot through a friend so no points for me. But still, at 70% off with free international shipping, you REALLY can't complain. International giveaway or not.
Having said that, I reckon one of the reasons it failed was the fact that it started on April...

Aussies are famous for leaving everything to the last possible minute, so to expect a lot of ppl even remembering about snow when we're having 28ºC+ almost everyday is almost naive.

If this had started now when it's wet and cold, chances are you'd be getting at least twice as many ppl logging in.

Also, you guys need to do a better work at advertising down under if that's really going to take off... it's amazing the amount of ppl that either don't know the website or 'keep forgetting it exists'.

IMO, you guys rock!!!!!! Got 99.9% of my gear from you guys and have talked least another 4-5 blokes into doing the same.

I think it didnt work so well in australia because of time of the day. 6pm is like 11 am sydney time. Too early for lunch break logon and too late for before work logon. BUT then I guess also haveto accomodate sierra ppl. STOKED I found sierra late last year. LOVED everything about the site since!

I think the international give away is a great idea and I'll log in any time Sierra say it's on. Not sure why I don't get emails anymore though. Sierra rocks whether they give boards away or not.I've saved thousands of dollars buying from Sierra. Australian prices for snow gear suck.

I'm sure he won recently because he said he won in his thread asking for a snowboard.  Not good to get greedy.

I think we should keep up the comments and keep this near the top of the forum so it shows we are still active coming into our winter..

I bought so much gear this year from Sierra this year I don't think need anything else...except a free board I don't have :)

So Whats the situation with the AUS/NZ give away.

My brother showed me this site a month ago, I cant believe how cheap it is compared to stores here.

Also, what is sierra.com/mobile? can we enter the giveaway from that?

No official word AFAIK  on the future of the international giveaway.  Safe to assume it has been parked temporarily though.

And yes, if your phone is compatible you can log into chat at the mobile site and be eligible.

Its not that hard to be online for the normal giveaway 8am isnt ridiculously early.

having said that i am so lazy and i havent always been able to get myself up in time so i would thoroughly appreciate an international giveaway that is at a more accommodating time.

You have to pay postage if you win anyway.  Won't have to convince them too hard i wouldn't think.  Wink

Absolutely. You could live in the moon and still be eligible. As long as you are signed in during the Giveaway time you will be eligible to win :)

The Australian giveaway has not been running for some time now.

Hi James,

You need to have been active on the forums within the last half hour. This also includes signing in, i.e. if you sign in @ 7:30, you're right to go up until 8:00. I generally sign in just before I leave for work, around 7:45AM (just in case if it runs late for whatever reason).

the big problem always was numbers. They wanted as many people as possible signing in on the giveaway to publicise their move into international sales. Thats why we got the giveaway, and more importantly its why we got the free shipping on sales of over $500. They want people to know about this stuff. The disappointing thing was that the numbers for the second giveaway were LOWER than the previous day (when the policy was announced with really short warning). The third day saw it decrease again.

I've found its about 15mins of inactivity before you are considered inactive.

Can't see international happening again.  Hell, i'm surprised the normal one is happening given current proceedings.

I wish I'd joined the forum a couple of months earlier and gone in the international draw, I might have a new snowboard by now :)

I'll just have to "make do" with my new gear due for delivery Monday.
