This is probably a pretty dumb question, but I'm new.
Are there other places people snowboard besides fancy ski resorts? I seem to remember seeing a video a couple years ago about some "urban" snowboarders that were just doing their own thing locally. |

Find the thread labeled 'Colorado', there is talk of back country ridding there. But yes people ride where ever they can. Back country, resorts, urban areas, even their back yard in the summer

All you need is snow and movement. You can be pulled and pushed but most people just like using a good hill. If you are just trying to learn you can find and hill and practice going down that. The problem is you have to hike back up and that gets old fast.

Resorts are much more convenient if you are learning how to ride. After that you can use the board wherever you have decent amount of snow. All resorts but three that I know of in the U.S allow snow boarders.

Ski resorts don't have to be all that fancy. If you go to places like Wisconsin (where i live) they aren't really that fancy cuz the "mountains" are more like hills. But it's still a nice ride and usually cheaper than the big places cuz you technically wouldn't get as much out of the ride as you would at the bigger places say in Colorado or wherever

If you want an easy place to learn hit up smaller resorts. They're cheaper and not as crowded usually.
