I got a job in Bosie and I'm moving down there in the next week. I've been looking into my riding options and wanted to see if anyone here had some experience with these places.
It looks like Bogus Basin is the closest destination. From their site and some reviews I could find, it looks like a decent place. It's open late, has enough acreage to keep me interested, and there is a lot of sunshine, but it sounds like there isn't any very challenging terrian and snow can be lacking. I'm coming from Spokane and I get the feeling Bogus would be similar to what I'm used to riding at Mt. Spokane: decent conditions but nothing special. Next closest seems to be Brundage near McCall (110 miles). That place looks really good and they claim to have the best snow in Idaho. That's a pretty big claim, since I've had some very good snow days at Schweitzer and Lookout Pass. Next closest would be Anthony Lakes (140 miles). This place sounds like it's got some short but sweet runs. It's way up high and should have some light powder. Next closest would be Sun Valley (160 miles). Looks impressive but $pendy. Of course, Salt Lake City is about 6 hours away which wouldn't be bad if I had 4 or more days off work (1 day down, 2 days riding, 1 day back). Anyway, any input on these places would be greatly appreciated. ![]() |

if you can go for a weekend trip go up to brundage. it is the best period in my opinion there is amazing powder and greaat tree riding and the snow is better than bogus. you can just walk on the lifts no one is there even on the weekends and for a day trip you can go to tamack (once it re-opens)
for a superpipe and some rad park and for dinner you can hit up krustys pizza in mccall for some great pizza |

Bogus is a decent mtn and you can head up after work when its open. There is also a bus that will shuttle you up there (forget how much it cost).
Sun Valley gets some great snow. If you are feeling adventurous enough to go to SLC, Jackson is a more scenic drive and you can hit up Targhee and JH. Boise is an awesome city, congrats on the job.

bogus is great at night if you ride the weekdays. what i do is ride bogus on the weekdays if you buy a 12 pack of soda for like 4-5 bucks at chevron you get a bogus voucher so its only 10 bucks (works for up to 4 people) at night. but on the weekends i would recommend going to brundage, sun valley or utah. soldier mountain also has good snow but it is a small mt but its inexpensive and not very far.
